No Disintegrations P36

Considering a brawl attack basic has a crit rating of 5 - can people identify ways of lowering this rating?
Honestly stumped at the moment

Iron body (ND p. 34) reduces the critical rating of an unarmed brawl attack, but a character well trained in brawl also increases the odds of activating critical hits with a Triumph.
More proficiency dice = more critical hits.

Well, the Martial Artist does include two ranks of Iron Body, which decreases the critical rating of unarmed attacks by 1 per rank (so, -2 total) to give you a crit rating of 3. Not ideal, but actually useable . Also, a Triumph can always be spent to activate an effect that costs any number of Advantage, so if you're a good enough Martial Artist (i.e. rolling enough Proficiency dice), you can spend your Triumphs for your crits, if needed.
EDIT: Ninja'd by Domingo! At least in part .
Edited by Absol197Iron Body reduces it to 3 (same tree forgot it)
Fair point on lots of dice - just seems VERY hard to pull off for a once per session ability

There's a talent in the same tree called Iron Body—check it out.
Also, Triumphs are nice
Also, and this is technically allowed by RAW, but I would consider it a "natural weapon" and therefore not eligible for Supreme Precision Strike or Iron Body, species like Nikto and Trandoshans have claws that lower your crit rating with Brawl checks.
Lol triple-ninja'd

Well, I mean...this IS a thread about Martial Artists, so I suppose it's only to be expected that it's full of ninjas .

Everyone one is fast as lightning. It was a little bit frightening.

Triumphs aren't that uncommon. You've got a 1 in 12 chance per yellow die, and if you're rolling 3 or 4 of them (which you really should be by the time you get to your bottom tier talent in the Martial Artist tree...) you should get one every few rolls.

HEY NOW !
That's kung fu, not ninjitsu. As a Kung Fu practitioner myself, this distinction is quite important !
Joke:
If you want to lean to become a ninja, how do you find a good Ninja School?
Answer: You don't. If you can find it, it's not a good Ninja School.

Trandoshans have Crit 3 claws. Two ranks of Iron body makes that a crit rating of 1. Beware the trandoshan martial artist.

Eh, I'd consider it fair to use the talents with their claws. After all, Trandoshans should be scary in close combat and they still have the drawback that their claws don't come with hardpoints.
That said, I just noticed something interesting... Supreme Precision Strike is nice and all that, but the regular Precision Strike, that 5 XP talent, allows one to suffer 1 Strain and shift the Crit to any Easy Critical Injury. Among those: Discouraging Wound: Flip a Destiny Point to Light Side. The Scorekeeper is definitely with Trandoshan Martial Artists...

Besides, everyone knows the best Ninja schools choose you. You don't choose them.
What’s a herd of ninjas called, feels like I’ve released them!!
great suggestion on the races btw
thanks all

If you need to use your crit to get a destiny point, tell your GM to use them more

I'm pretty sure that's called a hedge of ninjas.
"We are a hedge. Please move along."
Yep trandoshan martial artist are cruel ^^
It was stated by the Devs that natural weapons don't count as WEAPONS in the matters of the Martial Artist Tree.
So yes CRIT 1 for Brawl is possible!
(they can't put them away and it is a race trait, otherwise no Falleen should be allowed to use his pheromones with any social skill ^^)

Fortunately this many ninjas isn't scary, due to inverse ninja law.

With the express caveat that if it was deemed too broken by the GM, he was well within his rights to disallow it.
I think you've demonstrated how broken it can get quite easily It's literally an "I Win" button that costs a single Advantage and a bit of strain.

Dude you have the weirdest logical jumps

No. It's a button that you can use once per session to
None of those can keep a target from both escaping and fighting.

Technically it is Conservation of Ninjitsu. Along with Conservation of Momentum and Conservation of Angular Momentum it is one of the pillars of physics.

Yeah of course the GM can put a stop to everything... GM means God Mode so... wait no... Game Master (but where is the difference ^^)
Still have to hit - and lets be honest my nikto, while a beast of mass destruction, isn't as reliable to pull that of as some other means.
(double bladed craytdragon pearl with yuri rig -> crit 1 and cost for linked = 1 by vicious 4 that's evil... )
and he was build only focused on the PvP areana with nothing else in mind (quite useless in a real campaigne)
And yes, I know, sometimes my logical jumps can be confusion (just ask my wife about it )
But BTT:
there are much possibilities to make a build broken, some via the combinations of skilltrees and races, some due to credits on the rigth item constallations, and some times due to the combination of gear and skills.
But at least the Martial artist (even the crit 1 nikto martial artist) has one weakness against a tricked out Lightsaber, oder juryrigged "auto" blaster rifle...
he can't get any kind of "automatically" boosts (no accuracy mods for bare hands), nor can he achieve auto advantages (supreme/ reverse grip) or any other kind of mod as long as he wants to use his bare hands or claws.
once he uses a brawlweapon he may get attachment but therefore no Iron Body Bonus, no natural claws bonus and no P.S.(supreme) (only standard and advanced)
so it balances out... somehow...

Id have to disagree once per session, if you compare it to the signature abilities out there, its nothing to write home about. It requires you to hit and also cause damage with that hit. Often this means for a straight Martial Artist you need to also use martial grace to get the damage through. Which can also be parried and prevent the crit.
Edit, note it can only be used against one opponent per game, what if you are fighting 3 or 4
