The Red Defender

I traded my red Defender for a grey one.

Because I'm a traditionalist, and I do not approve of non-Imperial standard paint schemes.

For that very same reason, I have found it difficult to paint any of my Imperial ships just yet. When I do come around, it will never be more than just accents and highlights.

I'm happy to use red models with any pilot flying next to a palp shuttle.

3 Onyx with x7 and Stealth is a really nasty squad to try and beat. They may not put out much damage, but you'll be hard pressed to kill all of them. Most games go to time. Just sayin.

The problem is, the same can be said of three Deltas, and they'd have six points left spare to upgrade one of them to Ryad with a spicy EPT to boot.

I want so badly to paint the engines of several of my ships, but my doubts about matching the base colors for the inevitable over-splash that happens stops me dead in my tracks.

since I have absolutely zero attachment to Ryad as a character, having never heard of her before x-wing, I'm afraid my OCD reacts more to lack of symmetry

and I traded my base defenders for vet models

fight me

They're so pretty. I peed a little.

One of my most successful lists back in the day was RAC and a Delta with an ion cannon. It was fun watching my Decimator flank and chew up a z swarm when it was a thing.

Red always.

1. My other defender was my first TIE paintjob, in which i discovered the hair pulling fun that is trying to paint those panels decently (tip: really, really THIN paint layers).

2. Your opponent WILL, at least a turn or two, think it's Ryad and worry about Kturns that do not exist.

3. Red goes faster.

Wait, people are still flying Soontir?

No, that was just hypothetical.

would it be heretical to repaint the red defender to match the blue ones? Or worse, Sabine’s Defender?

Ryad in red, always. The rest of the plebs in grey. (I need another friggin defender)

Also red Gunboat.

Red is faster.

Personally I just picked a new colour scheme and repaint anything I'm actually flying routinely (and particularly in tourneys) to match it. White base, nato grey panels, purple accents, red cockpits, blue engines. Though I'm thinking about revising the blue engines, they don't show against the white well.

Painting the Countess' Defender to match a mere standard model would be disappointing, but allowed.

Defacing Imperial property with a paint job that emulates those of the insurgents of Lothal? That's not heresy:

So far, I've only painted scum and rebel ships, but metallic pink is my go-to for engine glow. If the engine is large enough, I'll put white in the middle on top of the pink, and thin out from there.

I plan to do green stripes on my first custom Imperial ship.
