The Red Defender

By Boba Rick, in X-Wing

Is there like an unspoken rule about this thing that only Ryad can fly the red defender model? It always feels weird if I use it for anyone else.

Is that just me?

Similiar here. I only use it for Ryad. Or when I first tested 2 Glaive in a Squad. Then I used 2 red Defenders!

For me, Glaives also belong in red because that's Ryad's Squadron and they have the same paint scheme in the art. I'll also give Stele a pass because he came in Imp Vets. But if the pilot wasn't in the Imp Vets pack, it does feel weird for them to be in a Red Defender.

Ryad or glaives only.

It is annoying when people switch vessery to the red one.

It's like using the red interceptor as soontir fel.

Game ruinning bad time? No.

Just irritating. Like unnecessary paperwork at my job.

Ryad should be piloting it because she's already in the list anyway, so putting someone else in the red Defender would just be silly.

What's that? She's not in your list? Don't feel bad, everyone makes mistakes. I don't mind waiting while you fix it.

I'm going to run Soontir or vessery

in their red ships every time, now. psychological warfare.

meant to say vessery

I used to play against a guy who ran Ryad in the black defender and Vessery in the Red ... drove me batty. I think he knew it messed with people's heads

Ryad goes in Red. See it's easy because they both start with "R." It would bother my OCD so much if someone put Vessery in red and Ryad in grey. I can see how that would be an effective (cruel and unusual) strategy. It should be FAQed and disallowed!

I flew a pair of defenders the other day and I wanted to have two grey ones...and it felt weird having Ryad in grey.

BTW Boba Rick: I think you misspelled "Ryad" in the thread title.

Hey, I don't have the blood stripe 181st Interceptor any more. Had a friend who liked flying the 181st aces so traded a red one for a striped. So FEL either rides in standard grey, or he's in a Royal Red. I stand by my decision to use red.

Funny though how people do tend to fly specific ships for certain pilots.

I'm going to start running Kylo and Soontir together, but I'll put a red Interceptor on Kylo's base and a TIE Bomber on Soontir's. Lets REALLY mess with people.

As long as I have a Silencer model somewhere in my play area, I don't see any rules specifying that the correct models must be attached to the base.

I'm ready to take this all the way to Space Court.

I like running vessery in the red tie because it usually throws off my opponent and they forget mid game

Guys, guys, lets be civilized here. I found a game product you can bring to matches in case someone accidentally flys a non-red Ryad:

I traded my red Defender for a grey one.

Because I'm a traditionalist, and I do not approve of non-Imperial standard paint schemes.

Its the same things as putting any pilot other than Poe in the Black T-70. I say let it fly (pun intended), fly whomever you like in whatever color ship you like.

I solely use the Red Defender as the Countess. Even if I'm using Glaives, I'll use another defender. Probably why I have 3 standard Defenders and then the Countess' personal fighter.

A shame the Glaives are a point too expensive, otherwise they'd see table time.

She was accused of treason and hunted down by Soontir, so you're not wrong...

Wait, people are still flying Soontir?
