Guri > tlt

If you can keep out of mirandas front arc you should be ok... keeping range one will be much harder but she wont have any re positioning so you should be able to do it as long as you are a good pilot. My money would be on guri in this fight, all guri's actions would be for re-positioning and defense relying on Accuracy corrector to ensure the damage. defensively guri is extremely strong vs TLT's and should be able to withstand miranda's damage without much issue.

You make a mistake with guri you are in a tight spot but if you can get in behind miranda you should win.

(if miranda had boost you are done... no chance, but she doesn't in this format.)

Miranda does have SLAM, though. The burden is going to be on Guri to force shots on Miranda that she can't completely evade. Otherwise, the Miranda player is free to play the long game and just take shots where she can. Eventually, she's bound to push something through.

Everyone immediately focuses on the TLT, but don't forget about the bombs. The K-Wing comes with Ion Bombs, a Conner Net, and Extra Munitions, and can wear all those things at once. And the ions can be dropped with a SLAM. K-Wings are stupid versatile.

Also, she'd have a bombardier. That's kind of there too I guess. And Advanced Homing Missiles, if she's feeling cheeky.

I'm in with the TIE/fo pack crowd. It has the de facto build for Omega Leader and one on one is exactly where he wants to be.

Double Edge (or Kestal if you want) could (possibly) contend with TLT, Unguided Rockets, Intensity, and Lightweight Frame. Shame how underutilized the TIE/Ag is, I think it can be quite good if used well.

Plasmas too!

Miranda Doni with TLT, Bombardier, Conner Net, Ion Bomb, Plasma Torpedoes, Advanced Homing Missiles, Advanced Slam, and Extra Munitions.

This is just the normal Miranda with some... interesting ordnance.

I was just wondering "What if X-Wing had a similar format to CCGs where people buy several booster packs and use them to play a tournament." And, what is the most powerful ship with the cards included is intriguing to me. Sounds like Miranda with her built in Regen is pretty powerful.

I have for some time advocated the concept of a 100/101 format - in which you play 100pts, using $101 of RRP purchases.
So, a small blister is $15, a medium blister is ~$20-25, Large tends to be in the $30+, etc.

Certainly makes for some interesting, and harder, choices.

The main questions that remained open were 'what about fix cards that come in Epic ships' (aka the TIE Advanced problem), and whether or not you must choose a starter set (Which causes some concerns for Scum)...

Those two quibbles sorted, you'd be away laughing :)

You knew it was coming:

ALPHA CLASS STARWING (GUNBOAT)

Major Vynder

sat salvo (because no Chimps or VI)

Cruise missile

OS-1

A-SLAM

34 points of GUNBOATY GOODNESS.

for the record ‘small’ blisters are 15 bucks and ‘medium’ blisters are 20.

I would say there’s a difference in the 30 and 40 buck boxes too. I would not count the Silencer or Reaper as ‘medium’ since I would also not call the individual ships in Aces packs ‘small’, it’s one expansion so everything in the box counts towards one ‘blister’ list.

Anyway, ‘medium’

Deathrain

EM, cluster bombs, ion bombs, Enhanced scope, TIE mk 2

HWK-290 pack, Jan Ors pilot

  1. Ion Turret
  2. Moldy Crow Title
  3. Recon Specialist

Ionize Miranda off the board. Assume everyone else in blister meta crushes you.

... You know, given it's a duel and you're dealing with no points limit, the ordnance isn't even that bad a pick: You've got a quartet of control bombs (And cunning flying can force a chain of Conner Nets and then Ion Bombs on consecutive rounds, at that), and a missile that does great when you know exactly where your opponent will be, and a classic face-hurter to boot.

I'm not saying it's perfect , but there's even a weird internal logic to the pick.

Horton Salm with dual proton torps, Ion cannon, and R2 unit.

I feel like a Vynder Harpoon gunboat would be pretty amazing, considering you can SLAM, TL and fire each turn.

Whisper pretty much auto-wins against anything PS 6 or lower.

Omega leader is huge bang for buck, but dies to bombs.

A Quadjumper would be fun.

But in the end, it comes down to what can beat Nym/Miranda while having a small chance against the opposition. For that I'd probably say Quickdraw is the best choice overall, since she can take a few bombs happily, and has the offense and PS to melt them both.

It doesn't quite fit the mold, but I had a nifty 3-package list early on in my X-Wing playing history.

Whispers on the Moon (Anne of Green Gables reference).

  • Omega Leader (Juke, Comm Relay)
  • Whisper (VI, FCS, ACD)
  • Bounty Hunter - Imperial Firespray, lol - (Tactician)

Everything in the list is in the three expansions: Firespray, F/O, Phantom, and I think it's not terrible. It wasn't so much a replacement for a Yorr shuttle in a Mynock Special, as I hadn't heard of the list or the Mynocks at all at the time. However, you've got a decent brick with some control elements in the Firespray, and Omega Leader is a scary enough end-game threat to distract people from Whisper, long enough to let her get position.

Nym/Miranda are in a different tier than the previous ships you mention. The 'medium' (or as some have corrected me "large") blister.

Offhand, I can't think of any small blisters with bombs in them, so I think Omega Leader is a top choice. If they can survive an alpha strike by the Gunboat.

I do enjoy this thread. I would think having a tournament of small blister packs one on one ship kinda thing would be great. Obviously the large blister has two auto top 2 that are stagnant, but the small would be awesome.....

TIE Bomber and Quadjumper both come with bombs. There might be more, I'm not sure.

I'd love to try Whisper, all she is missing is VI.

Omega Leader is a solid choice for this format to.

I would TRY to make an ARC-170 work. Because no one would expect it in the medium blister category!

I was wondering why no one mentioned the ARC yet. I just flew that ship for the first time the other day after buying it all the way back in november!

The only thing I dislike is that it has no generic pilots. The ARC pack is one of the best straight-out-of-the-box packs, IMO.
