Target Sync Nus

By Hoffburger, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Was playing around with some ideas on the triple Harpoon Nu archetype and I was trying to figure out how to best get that initial alpha off vs a wide range of lists. LRS is countered by countermeasures and black one so thst is a non starter. That meant that the only 2 options were mass deadeye (which requires more expensive rhos and is weak to hotcop), thread tracers (which is weak to hotcop and basically requires you to run vader with a 2 point bid to guarantee it), or something with FCS and target sync that can survive decently well. You could run VI vader with chips, ATC, and thread tracers, but all those factors i just mentioned lead me to the last option which really only gives you 2 options for ships; the TIE S/F or the Silencer. Quickdraw is too expensive to run LWF, FCS, and target sync which severely hampers survivability. In my opinion the viable options are Backdraft or the generic Silencer. The list looks badass on the table with the Silencer so I went with that version.

TIE Silencer: Sienar Jaemus Analyst (33)
Autothrusters (2)
Fire-Control System (2)
Targeting Synchronizer (3)

Alpha-Class Star Wing: Nu Squadron Pilot (22)
Guidance Chips (0)
Harpoon Missiles (4)

Guidance Chips (0)
Harpoon Missiles (4)

Alpha-Class Star Wing: Nu Squadron Pilot (22)
Guidance Chips (0)
Harpoon Missiles (4)

Total: 99/100

That being said, Backdraft with LWF, FCS, target sync, and a 0 point EPT is also a viable option:

"Backdraft" (27)
Adaptability (0)
Fire-Control System (2)
Targeting Synchronizer (3)
Lightweight Frame (2)
Special Ops Training (0)

Nu Squadron Pilot (18)
Harpoon Missiles (4)
Guidance Chips (0)

Nu Squadron Pilot (18)
Harpoon Missiles (4)
Guidance Chips (0)

Nu Squadron Pilot (18)
Harpoon Missiles (4)
Guidance Chips (0)

Total: 100

Thoughts?

Hm. Now see, I like that idea of Vader with Tracers, because Fenn can only mess up one of those.

But, I see the TS appeal. However, I think you can get it more efficiently:

3x Nu

Poons

GC

Zeta Specialist

AccCorr

Title

Targeting Synchronizer

LWF

Yeah, its low PS, but it's tough and can hold its own well enough.

But Backdraft might be more offensively viable.

I tried the Backdraft version and it worked out really well. I think it has some serious potential.

The risk for TS approach is that TS ship can't shoot the intended target (out of arc, bumped) or dies before Nu's can shoot.

I personally feel that mass thread tracers approach is a better way to go (Essentially once you have thread tracers on 2 or 3 ships, it's immune to hotcop tinkering. It's what I'm flying in my Harpoon Nu squad)

If you would still prefer TS approach, I would recommend going with Backdraft due to the extra arc that can be used to get that target lock for TS.

This is my Targeting Sync list to pair with gunboats:

Rho Squadron Veteran (21)
Crack Shot (1)
Harpoon Missiles (4)
Guidance Chips (0)
Os-1 Arsenal Loadout (2)

Hyperwave Comm Scanner (1)
