Trying to make a good meta list

By schmi, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hello all. I have a regional coming up. Looking to make something that doesn't excel in any way or struggle in any way. Additionally, looking for something that is okay with gunboats and the kanan fenn stuff going around. I have come up with three lists so far:

(1)

Fenn Rau (20)
Sheathipede-class Shuttle (20), Adaptability (0), "Chopper" (0)

Poe Dameron (PS8 Version) (41)
T-70 X-Wing (31), Black One (1), R2-D2 (4), Advanced Optics (2), Veteran Instincts (1), Autothrusters (2)

Lothal Rebel (39)
VCX-100 (35), Collision Detector (0), Autoblaster Turret (2), Rey (2), "Chopper" (0)

List has good firepower, HP, and survivability. Good mobility to deal with missile boats. Although, it might not like HSCP and SJ's.

(2)

Lowhhrick (35)
Auzituck Gunship (28), Expertise (4), C-3PO (3), "Chopper" (0)

Fenn Rau (24)
Sheathipede-class Shuttle (20), Veteran Instincts (1), Tactician (2), Flight-Assist Astromech (1)

Poe Dameron (PS8 Version) (41)
T-70 X-Wing (31), Black One (1), R2-D2 (4), Advanced Optics (2), Veteran Instincts (1), Autothrusters (2)

I like this one because of the tactician and expertise. Both are quite good in the meta at the moment. Having a tough time choosing between 3p0 or tactician on Lowhhrick.

(3)

Lothal Rebel (38)
VCX-100 (35), Collision Detector (0), Autoblaster Turret (2), Wookiee Commandos (1)

Lothal Rebel (44)
VCX-100 (35), Accuracy Corrector (3), Twin Laser Turret (6), "Chopper" (0), Courier Droid (0)

Zeb” Orrelios (18)

This one is pretty interesting because it has a ton of HP and quite a bit of firepower as well. Should hit harder than lothal and fenn lists. I like that the titled vcx doesn't care about SJ/fenn stuff.

What are your thoughts? Would you build any of those lists differently? Which is the best meta read in your opinion?

I don't dig list one, seems a little..confuzzled. Fenn and the Rebel are too light.

I think list 2 is gonna be your best bet! Those are 3 strong meta calls. However, I personally would drop R2-D2 for BB-8 (loads of TL stripping), get Predator and Rey on Low (Focuses AND Rerolls on attack), which, together, save enough points for either HSCP, or R2 Astromech/Pulsed Ray Shield on Fenn and a bid.

List 3 suffers from the same as list 1: too light, by my estimation

I ran this at my regional and placed top 8. I hope this helps. Got a lot of firepower and the ability to stay out of Arc as well. Squadron: Regionals Squadron

List 1: I agree that Fenn is a little slimmer than I want. Would prefer to put tactician on him. However, I don't think the rebel is too light. For 39 points, you have a 4-die 16-hp brawler. Ive found its something that people don't usually expect. In previous games with that particular Lothal Rebel setup (in a different list), it ended up doing the vast majority of the damage and soaking a fair amount of the opening damage. People are used to seeing 60pt ghosts and are inclined to just shoot at it immediately. But, I am still struggling with what could get dropped to put tactician on Fenn. Maybe AT on Poe?

List 2: BB-8 is definitely a good metal call. Ive never used it. Maybe ill give it a try! As for adding predator, I like the added dmg but I don't like that it doesn't help against SJ (which was my main goal of expertise).

List 3: Here I was trying to do something like fenn-poe initially. Then I realized that the Ghost in that list was expected to do 90% of the damage in each game. And Fenn is always first target. Then you are down to a 1 ship (granted with 2 shots) vs the opponent's remaining list. I figured it would be an interesting tactic to make the wingman really hard-hitting and beefy. The damage output of this list is quite impressive, I feel. I know, it just feels wrong to not load up a ghost :D

Looks fun. How did you like Bistan? And why is there a tail gunner on Zeb? If im not mistaken, I dont think the attack shuttle has a rear firing arc.

Good for punching a critical when in Arc. The shuttle does have a rear arc too.

Of course, I completely thought it was the original attack shuttle. Sorry :)

I can see that brawling value - I suppose it's just not my piece of cake lol!

That Expertise is a good point actually, I wasn't thinking of that

Maybe on the 3rd list, I could get behind it more if they both had ABTs/AccCorr. That leaves more room for fun around the non-attacking angle.

List 2 is solid, but personally I prefer a slim Lowhhrick. Wookiees+DTF. He's already a priority target, making him a more expensive damage dealer only encourages dropping him first, and quickly.

As for list 3, I would go this way:

Lothal Rebel (35)
Fire-Control System (2)
Autoblaster Turret (2)
Hera Syndulla (1)
Courier Droid (0)

Lothal Rebel (35)
Collision Detector (0)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
Wookiee Commandos (1)
Ghost (0)

"Zeb" Orrelios (18)
"Chopper" (0)
Phantom (0)

Total: 100

Wookiee commandos are great. A TLT doubles their value. A quad tapping TLT quadruples their value.

The other one has an open dial, and attack mods without actions.
