Alpha and Lamda!

Hey, somebody throw out and discuss possible Alpha-class Starwing + Lamda shuttle lists, because A) I'm too lazy to generate them myself, B) I'm too meta-oblivious to come up with interesting or effective ones, C) I like the idea of the long winged beauties flying around together.

Please?

Interesting. I've not fiddled with harpoons at all, but I understand them to be very popular in the meta (which, admittedly, I hardly pay attention to) right now.

I need to wrap my head around what makes them tick.

Palpy shuttle. (grin) I remember there being a day when that evoked howls of rage. Again, don't really know why. I wasn't paying attention (as usual).

Harpoons hit hard with four dice, and you don’t have to spend the TL to fire them. So with the gunboats, you can reload next turn and fire them again potentially (depends on staying at range). If you wanted to get nasty, you could find the points for a Mangler on the shuttle to help trigger the condition, which deals additional damage.

Interesting. That's the thing I so frequently forget to do with ordinance.

And that's just mean :P (I approve). I forgot mangler cannons were a thing.

If you want to pull a dirty tricks, consider the following. Total gimmick list, of course:

  • Captain Yorr
    • Electronic Baffle
    • Tractor Beam
    • Inspiring Recruit
    • Inspiring Recruit
    • Engine Upgrade
  • Rho Squadron Veteran x 2
    • OS-1 Arsenal Loadout
    • Push The Limit
    • Cruise Missiles
    • Proton Rockets
    • Advanced SLAM

Sounds random, but supports a pair of well-armed OS-1 missile boats.

  • Gunboat executes a speed 4 straight
  • Yorr receives the stress
  • Gunboat uses SLAM
  • Gunboat executes a speed 4 straight
  • Yorr receives the stress
  • Yorr uses Electronic Baffle to suffer 1 damage and remove the stress
  • Yorr uses Inspiring Recruit #1 to remove the other stress
  • Gunboat uses Advanced SLAM to perform another action (and potentially Push The Limit to perform a third)
  • Repeat as necessary using Inspiring Recruit #2

The gunboat is capable of performing what's essentially a 'Speed 9 straight' and then binning off a 5-dice, double-modified cruise missile at a target busy trying to figure out when the empire learned to fire missiles without having to decelerate from lightspeed....

That...that's complicated and hilarious.

I can just imagine some Imperial pilot saying, "Hold my blue milk and watch this!"

I may have to play with that just to see how ridiculous it is :D

Other than that; OS-1 gunboats are incredibly token-hungry.

Activate, use Hux to give two gunboats plus yourself focus tokens, move, remove stress, assign free target lock to a third.

You can provide 'double tokens' to 3 gunboats at once, and still get a focused shot yourself.

I posted mine that I flew at Systems open about 2 months ago. I had a blast. I completely second using Hux, Yorr. Yorr was nice because it matched the PS movements and created some cool combo's explained in there. I used tractors, with Hux's uncancellable, and came hard with double Harpoon RHO boats. I loved it and would fly it again with moderate changes. action economy was amazing.
