What's Your Signature Dish?

By Darth Meanie, in X-Wing Off-Topic

I was expecting an argument over round vs. rectangular Falcon dishes...

I make a really good Moroccan-style tagine with cous cous. Always comes out nicely, and the beauty is I can really vary the ingredients. The main staples are dried/crushed ginger, cinnamon, cumin, chilli, and coriander. Then mix with honey and tinned tomatoes and cook whatever you like in that for absolutely ages.

Errr... microwave pizza? :)

I BBQ and grill.... That's the extent of my cooking knowledge, but I do it pretty well.

Mostly rice-with-stuff-in. Soften some veg, brown some sort of meat, toss in rice, get it coated in whatever fat was in the pan, add water and cook until done.

This week I have mostly been eating...

Huervos rancheros

Breaded chicken tacos with hot sauce and blue cheese dip

Penne with pancetta and mushrooms in a creamy bechamel sauce

Tomorrow is chilli night. Oh yes.

Spaghetti Bolognese

and

The traditional Dutch "boerenkoolstamppot", stolen from wikipedia; Kale with mashed potatoes and smoked saussage

Finally! Though I prefer the oven these days, since I have one;

Finally proof I have not been the only one torturing pizza's.

Although....., real pizza's are of course created in a wood-stoked oven by an Italian who boasts of generations of experience. ..

Yes, using a dough made with 00 grade wheat flour, water, salt and yeast, San Marzano tomatoes, fresh mozzarella di bufala and fresh basil.

Pineapple should be kept as far away from it as possible.

My ultimate goal in life is to own a wood-fired pizza oven. And preferably somewhere to keep it.

@Darth Meanie , great thread. I totally agree that the thread that this is a parody of had a really weird attitude towards casual players, and seemed to be missing the fact that just because someone plays all kinds of different, sub-optimal lists, it doesn't make them a bad player.

My signature dish is probably really simple nachos. I love just sprinkling shredded cheddar over some tortilla chips and sticking the whole thing in the toaster oven for a couple minutes. It's a dangerously addictive TV snack that seems to go really well with Clone Wars and Rogue One. My snack of choice for Episode V is microwave burritos though... I find that what food I feel like eating is strangely dependent on which Star Wars thing I'm watching. :)

I've also been trying to learn how to make sushi but I'm not very good at it. My favorite thing to make is the spicy smoked salmon roll.

I keep mine at my friend's house. Did I mention he's Sicilian? And in the wine business. . .

We got a decent pizza place near our LGS. Not an italian guy, nor a brand chain, but he has a wood fire oven.

I never got that dislike for pineapple, it goes real well with ham (and olives, according to Deadpool)

Ice cream from the freezer.

Come to Italy. LOL

My non-authentic take on Picadillo. People tend to like that.

I have mastered the skill of making pasta with panna, zucchini and prawns. Delicious.

Meatzza is my friends' choice.

It's essentially a 12" lean grilled beefburger, which is then treated as a pizza base (tomato & pepper sauce, cheese, peppers, whatever).

It's surprisingly healthy, actually (depending on how much and what cheeses you use).
