What’s your Signature List?

Crackshot is a waste on Youngster. Why Crackshot?

I'm one of those people that owns everything and plays everything, with no discernible bias toward one faction. Every store championship I've won (six or seven?) and every Regional I've Top-8ed (four) has been with a different list, except that I won two SCs with Brobots, and flew Boba/IG-88B to 2nd Swiss at a Regional. So now I'm the Brobots guy, which is fine. I still like Brobots.

But the game has changed a lot. It used to be that you could put 100 points of good individual ships on the table, fly well, and have a good chance of doing well. If you knew the dials, basic tactical rules like target priority, and a modicum of probability you could do okay.

That's not true any more. There are so many triggers. On Saturday, flying Asajj-Bossk for the first time ever, I forgot every single trigger in my list at least one time in the first game. (I lost, badly, to a good player, good list, well flown.) I improved with each successive game, but even in my final game, I missed a single-die re-roll with Dengar.

Nowadays you really do have to practice with a list. I'm conflicted about that. On the one hand, I think there's a lot to be said for a game where practice makes you better. On the other hand, I kinda miss where just practicing X-Wing -- any X-Wing -- made you better, rather than specific lists with specific set-ups, specific opening moves, specific triggers, specific strategies against other strong lists, and so on. I just don't have the time for that ... and if I had the time for it, I don't have the inclination.

My signature list got nerfed, but I had pretty good success with this one:

Norra Wexley — ARC-170 29
Push the Limit 3
Kyle Katarn 3
R2-D2 4
Engine Upgrade 4
Alliance Overhaul 0
Ship Total: 43
Kashyyyk Defender — Auzituck Gunship 24
Jyn Erso 2
Jan Ors 2
Experimental Interface 3
Ship Total: 31
Biggs Darklighter — X-Wing 25
R4-D6 1
Integrated Astromech 0
Ship Total: 26

Vessery, Ryad and Inq since it was legal.

Oooh okay, how good do you think those bombers are? Are they actually like.. good or are they just fun?

In all honestly I haven’t lost with them yet. They have so much health and Fenn is a big help to them.

Vader w/Karsabi and a Rho is my current fav, even if the list itself needs some tweaking:

Darth Vader — TIE Advanced	29
Veteran Instincts	1
Advanced Targeting Computer	1
Engine Upgrade	4
TIE/x1	0
Ship Total: 35

Rho Squadron Veteran — Alpha-class Star Wing	21
Deadeye	1
Harpoon Missiles	4
Flechette Cannon	2
Guidance Chips	0
XG-1 Assault Configuration	1
Ship Total: 29

Lieutenant Karsabi — Alpha-class Star Wing	24
Wired	1
Heavy Laser Cannon	7
Linked Battery	2
Long-Range Scanners	0
XG-1 Assault Configuration	1
Ship Total: 35

I'm debating whether to drop the HLC to a Mangler or Wired to A Score to Settle to shave points off for a bid.

Youngster is a Black Sqd TIE with two EPTs - VI and Crack Shot. Gave me PS advantage vs other swarms, and stopped being PS-killed by Brobots.

I've been working on a similar list involving Karsabi. It utilizes QuickDraw's FCS and Targeting Synchronizer:

  • Lieutenant Karsabi — Alpha-class Star Wing 24
    Veteran Instincts 1
    Concussion Missiles 4
    Guidance Chips 0
    Ship Total: 29

  • "Quickdraw" — TIE/sf Fighter 29
    Adaptability 0
    Fire-Control System 2
    Targeting Synchronizer 3
    Lightweight Frame 2
    Special Ops Training 0
    Ship Total: 36

  • Colonel Vessery — TIE Defender 35
    Veteran Instincts 1
Twin Ion Engine Mk. II 1
    TIE/x7 -2
    Ship Total: 35

Deathfire is often overlooked and Dark Curse is a real pain in the A___ to shoot down without mods. The extra shield on ZL really seems to cause my opponents extra trouble too; a "common" TIE/fo shouldn't be able to take that many shots. Inqy is Inqy and often the first target. Why would you go for the other relatively "basic" ships after all? You'll soon learn not to underestimate this motley bunch. And if you lose, you'll likely have a smile on your face. We both will.

No doubt. Had a really great match yesterday, and it came down to his Dark Curse chasing down my Boba with Dengar crew; I couldn't do a **** thing about it except run away, evade, and hope for the best. I did not get the best, but it was a fun, very close match.

To begin with it was Vader (with Squad Leader)/Turr Phennir/Mauler Mithel/Dark Curse, because that was all I could make a viable fleet with for ages.

In the last couple of years as I have attended more events and started to see a lot of the same people at them I've become known as the Triple X-Wing guy, either T-65's or T-70's (but never mixing and matching the two types). The lists go through various revisions, swapping pilots/upgrades in and out, but there are usually one or two pilots that seem to crop up a lot (Wedge and Luke for T-65's, Red Ace and Snap for T-70's). This is what I took to a couple of small events and last years regional though:

Wedge Antilles (29) - Push the Limit (3), BB-8 (2), Integrated Astromech (0)

Luke Skywalker (28) - Draw their Fire (1), R2-D2 (4), Shield Upgrade (4)

Biggs Darklighter (25) - R2-F2 (3), Integrated Astromech (0)

Total = 99pts

I haven't tried this list since the Biggs nerf and don't think it will hold up in a competitive setting now, although its still good for casual games. Until I stopped using it, I had a 67% win ratio, which I've not quite been able to match with most of my other lists.

The Wasp Factory

Fenn Rau - PTL, Title, Autothrusters

Ndru Suhlak - VI, Harpoons, scavenger crane, guidance chips

Genesis Red - VI, title, mangler

Sunny bounder - light title

96 points. Love it.

I generally try to fly new things as thats more fun.

However, my go to list that I love to death and generally do very well with is:

MANGLERS

100 points

20 points

Cartel Spacer #1

M3-A “Scyk” Interceptor

“Heavy Scyk” Interceptor (2)

“Mangler” Cannon (4)

Locally, I borrowed this list archetype from someone else called "Three Baby Bears" for God-knows-what reason. It consists of a Lothal Rebel, Resistance Sympathizer, and either AP-5 or Zeb. It's not truly my signature list (I don't really have one) but heck, I'll put it up anyway.

The original variant:

Lothal Rebel with Title, Autoblaster Turret, FCS, Crew to taste

Resistance Sympathizer with Rey and C-3PO

Zeb Orellios with Title

Newer Variant:

Lothal Rebel with FCS, New Title, Crew to taste

Resistance Sympathizer with Old Title, Rey and C-3PO

AP-5 with Title

My Variant:

Lothal Rebel with Title, Synced Turret, Hera Syndulla, Chopper, FCS

Resistance Sympathizer with Rey

Zeb Orellios with Title

Still trying to find mine.

I used to run ABBA a lot. But I didn’t win anything major with it.

Lately I’ve been trying to make Rey/Poe a thing but with no AO or kanan and my love for VI it hasn’t exactly done anything significant.

I came up with this list myself, and am so far undefeated with it:

The Champions (100/100)
======================
Lambda-class Shuttle: Omicron Group Pilot (21 + 8)
+ Emperor Palpatine (8)
TIE Adv. Prototype: The Inquisitor (25 + 9)
+ Push the Limit (3)
+ Proton Rockets (3)
+ TIE/v 1 (1)
+ Autothrusters (2)
TIE Defender: Colonel Vessery (35 + 2)
+ Veteran Instincts (1)
+ TIE/x7 (-2)
+ Stealth Device (3)

It equates to two super-powerful aces getting three actions a turn with Palp support. Vessery at PS8 lets him use Inq's TL, both get evades and focuses.

However, my current go-to list is PS11 Poe with Advanced Optics, coupled with Lone Wolf Dash.

I'm definitely "that guy" who will tend to fly different things all the time, lose like I'm trying to lose (though I'm not), and have a grand time all the way down. I have this problem where I can't seem to play often enough to feel like I really get the "sense" of each ship as it comes out, so I keep going back to stuff that I either haven't flown yet or don't feel like I've figured out yet.

If I had to pick just one, though, I might go with something like this. Granted, I've never flown this tweaked version of it; this uses some of the newer cards. But it might look about like this in 2018:

Bug Zappers (99)

Zuckuss — G-1A Starfighter 28
Veteran Instincts 1
Dengar 3
Collision Detector 0
Contraband Cybernetics 1
Tractor Beam 1
Mist Hunter 0
Ship Total: 34
Black Sun Soldier — Z-95 Headhunter 13
Feedback Array 2
Ship Total: 15
Binayre Pirate — Z-95 Headhunter 12
Feedback Array 2
Ship Total: 14
Binayre Pirate — Z-95 Headhunter 12
Feedback Array 2
Ship Total: 14
Torkil Mux — HWK-290 19
Dorsal Turret 3
Courier Droid 0
Ship Total: 22

I'm the local StarViper guy. Although lately I've been stuck on the Resistance Bomber.

I usually toy around with whatever comes to mind (at least as long as it's imperial), so I don't have a "signature" as much as my "what I love about Star Wars"-list. I whip it out whenever someone wants to know what we're playing. It basically encapsulates my playstyle, so I guess it fits here too:

Captain Oicunn VT-49 Decimator (Determination, Mara Jade, Dauntless)

Pure Sabacc TiE Striker (Expert Handling, Adaptive Ailerons, Lightweight Frame)

Duchess TiE Striker (Veteran Instincts, Adaptive Ailerons, Lightweight Frame)

Total: 100

So yeah, the two ships most visually pleasing to me plus one of the best EU characters plus a lot of Rogue One. Pretty much the opposite of tryhard, though it can get pretty nasty if underestimated (that said, obviously not meant for tournaments above Store Champs).

But most importantly, it's fun, comprised of ships that not everyone knows while still looking like Star Wars. Plus, it's one of the closer attempts of introducing a close combat mechanic into the game, which means stuff catches fire everywhere by turn two and you get to pull off some insane turns. Pure ******* joy.

Brobots were where I figured out what 'style' of list I both enjoyed and could do well with.

Then Triple Aces (Soontir, Vader, Inquisitor) took me through my first competition play; it worked well for me even where Palp Aces didn't (turns out I'd rather redundancy than a lynchpin in a list).

Then, I started getting the confidence to move away from 'obvious build' ships, and ended up flying this monster:

Colonel Vessery (35)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Flechette Cannon (2)
Hull Upgrade (3)
TIE/D (0)

Delta Squadron Pilot (30)
Ion Cannon (3)
TIE/D (0)

"Omega Leader" (21)
Juke (2)
Comm Relay (3)

Total: 100

Top 4 in a Regional? Yeah, that worked out pretty well. Probably would've done even better with more practice, but it sure as heck gave pre-nerf Nym, Dengar, & Miranda a nasty shock. :D

I am usually in a Dash variant. (Even if he sucked I would still choose the YT-2400.)

Here is my current list until the next wave drops.

•Dash Rendar (56) - YT-2400
•Lone Wolf (2), Heavy Laser Cannon (7), Rey (2), •Outrider (5), Engine Upgrade (4)

•Tarn Mison (25) - X-Wing
R7 Astromech (2), Integrated Astromech (0)

•AP-5 (19) - Sheathipede-class Shuttle
Intelligence Agent (1), R2 Astromech (1), Pulsed Ray Shield (2)

My 2 favorite lists have long since been retired because they're just not competitive like they used to be, but the two that bring the most warmth to my wretched black heart are:

Etahn Abaht, PtL, R2-D2, Adv Sensors; 3 x Z-95s; B-wing

And:

Boba, VI, Navigator, Engine, Dampeners; Guri, Virago, Predator, Adv Sensors, Dampeners, Autothrusters; Z-95

Elegant lists from a more civilized time. Sigh...

I don't say I have a signature list but some gimmicks I try to but never could get working.

I tried to do a Jan/Nera/Horton build to get torpedoes to do 5 dice attacks, but in the end it is just better to take a ghost for that.

I tried to make Snap-Tact Rhymer a thing. Don't have a good follow up.

There is also Talonbane with cloak. It was fun to go behind a Keyan and nuke prenerf Biggs with him. You can surprise a lot of people with the cloak and the 5 k turn.

You know the guy, he has every model and plays a different list every time you see them.

I see you have been watching me... next time just tag me :P

Stressfenders; is mine.

SnapShot Ryhmer with rebel captive, tactician, lightweight frame, Vessery X7 (Juke and Twin Ion) and a x7 Delta.

I love flying list based around stress and control. Dual Shadow Casters great control and Jesper Hills Control Bots are also go too list for me.

RAC/Ace is probably my most commonly played. And with Krennic looking like it might be back in some form.
