Shield Strippers

By MandalorianMoose, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Been having a lot of fun with his fleet recently, wishing I had brought this to regionals instead of stupid Riekaan aces, I would have actually enjoyed my games! So many overlapping effects to track through 4+ games turns the brain to mush... this does away with all that and just goes ham with ship damage lol.

Raiders are great reactionary pieces that soften up targets for Demo to really lay the hurt on after shields are gone. Preferred prey are large ships, but it’s done well against squads, MSU, and rambones as well.

One thing I keep flipping back and forth on is Jonus vs 2 tie fighters. I lose a deployment and some AA firepower, but flotillas pop so easily when McJonus is around to paint the target for the raiders (and Demo’s front arc). I know Whisper isn’t uber competitive but she sure is fun. And versatile- she’s just as happy bombing ships as she is shooting squads, just wish she had swarm, but I digress...

Any thoughts or suggestions?

The title would be a great name for a Gamorrean nightclub XD

On a more serious note, I think this list lacks the necessary stripping force. You want those shields down by the time Demo arrives. HIE needs to be exhausted, so no doublearching. And you have only two raiders. Scrapping a Gozanti and som fighters for yet another Raider woud be better.

On the flip side, with those DCaps, you might get more than one round of fire from a raider, so it might do the trick. I like the idea.

I like it but I don't see what Jonus is getting you. Guaranteed accuracy when Demolisher doesn't really have them apart from the front shot that often fires at mid range and the intel officer should destroy the brace anyway. Raiders don't have the volley clout to make the accuracy important unless I suppose it is for shooting smaller targets at long range who only have 1 evade and no ECM.

I would think about swapping Jonus for a Lamda to allow the Flotillas to keep the squadrons active.

Jonus is there to clean up flotillas once they get close to my raiders with a guaranteed accuracy. He also draws a lot of squad hate, which means the squads aren’t attacking my fragile ships. I’ll take it lol

See I thought so too, and originally had 3 raiders with a smaller fighter wing, but I found that most targets had little to no shields remaining by the time that 3rd raider would fire, making them wasted points (HIE are nice, but expensive!) Dcaps lets them get an extra round of fire in from downtown, so munch main target usually takes 3 crits before Demo makes his run

Am I the only one feeling twitchy about a 118 point Gladiator? I feel like this list might suffer severely from glass cannon syndrome: if you lose Demo, there's no way the rest of you list can catchup.

For me, I drop a Gozanti and trade the Glad up to a Kuat refit ISD with Strategic Advisor. Trade mobility for a big increase in guns and resilience.

That’s what 6 activations and a bid for first are for lol! And I’ve been playing with a lot of ISD’s recently, thought it might be time to dust off old Demo and play some imp MSU like I used to

That's fair, for those willing to run such a fat Demo, your doing it the right way... so long as 6 activations and a 14 point bid are sufficient ;-)

I think DCOs will see a lot more use.
