Major Stridan and Death Troopers

By Celestial Lizards, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Major Stridan says that friendly ships at range 2-3 are treated as being at Range 1. This means that if Stridan has Death Troopers equipped, the card's affect extends to range 2-3.

I have a stubborn friend who says this doesn't work. I need some evidence besides my own logic to convince him.

This is a clear cut case of do what the card says.

Here’s a reading assignment for your friend:swx36_learntoplay.pdf

He’s ignoring so many key points in the rules, he probably needs to start from scratch.

He just needs to read the cards and do what they say. Relevant parts bolded.

After another friendly ship at range 1 becomes the defender, if you are inside the attacker's firing arc at range 1-3, the attacker receives 1 stress token.

For the purpose of your actions and Upgrade cards, you may treat friendly ships at Range 2-3 as being at Range 1.

The DTs have to be ON stridan, obviously, but otherwise nothing stops this working. Why does he think it doesn't?

This one is is pretty black and white, just as @thespaceinvader has said. What's the logic behind his argument against it working? We'd all love to know. :)

His logic? The stubborn friend didn’t think of it first.
