New Imperial Ship from Solo

Here's the reddit thread:

I feel like I should be able to knife-toss it at a wall and have it suction-cup itself there...

3 dishes looks... exotic... feels like it has protection on corners so children can’t hurt themselves :P

Looks like some kind of local system surveillance ship? I don't hate it..

At least it's not absurdly big like the new trilogy ships.

Edit:

Well I hope it's not. Design looks like it'd be better Arquittens size

Well it’s a cruiser, so I doubt they’d make it massive. I think I agree with the people on reddit (never thought I’d say that...), looks like some tractor beam projectors, and could be that they are the cause the falcon loses its panels

Yeah I think they're right. Looks like hangar bays next to 2 of the dishes. The more I look at it the more I like it

This is actually based on the very first concept art for the ISD... The thougt is rather disturbing.

Its almost as if they are always pulling from old concept art to try and have it look Star Wars. It might be nice if they had George there for like a day or two to pick out the art for the ships he liked for the roles the people were looking for or something rather than just recycling stuff.

Still a better looking ship than the Assault Frigate mk 2...

To defend the AFMK2, I love potatoes. I'm 50/50 on the new HBO coverage provided by the new ship. Mainly because I won't pay for the HBO.

It is understandable as their own designs fail miserably and they have no originality whatsoever. Except the U-Wing which makes no sense but looked cool at least. Raddus? An MC80 on steroids. First Order Stsr Destroyers? All look ridiculous and the only thing they can show off with is that they are bigger than anything.

I actually like the design of the bomber from TLJ, if only it was practical and not prone to exploding from even the slightest touch. Fun fact, did you know that the whole bomb chute part of the ship is somehow a clip that can be released so that it can land normally?

But yea, most of the designs have been sort of meh. Really, it wouldn't hurt to go into the EU's catalog and look at what people loved and like and then either repurpose that or use that as a source of inspiration, at least it wouldn't be pulling from the OT rejected concept art. I know not everyone likes the prequel ships, but I felt they still looked Star Wars but were their own thing way more than what we see coming out now. Which is part of the reason that I wish they would just get Lucas or the like to give a little bit of assistance on picking good looking

Don't forget FFG's creation the Raider, which managed to sneak its way into a Video Game.

The Nebulon C looked dumb, but the Bunkerbuster (corvette?) looked good when it wasn't being blown apart after running out of fuel.

I liked the Profundity .

Ffg is not Disney. And you're right I forgot Profoundity but for me that long fin doesn't make sense...

The long fin which the bridge is situated at the end of? That long fin?

We were discussing it at our LGS on wednesday and we figured it being mon cal, the fin was a keel, to keep it stabilised when it was set down on/in the water on mon cals homeworld (which i just realised i cant remember the name of)

homeworld: mon cala....... so simple, soo obvious ;)

Sure it was a keel, I don't doubt it. But why would you place the bridge to such an exposed place? Basically anything that hits the ship between the main hull and the bridge threatens with complete loss of control of the ship.

So in contrast to you original statememt. You understand why the fin is there and its the bridge placememt that doesnt make sense?

Yeah i have no answer for the bridge :)

I would like the Vakbeor -class cargo frigate if it, like the MC85, wasn't so absurdly underarmed for its size and role.
