As a salty Maro player I just have to add that you can actually raise a maximum of 12 trays due to the needed healing (see below), and that would require Fortuna's dice and Regen magic which totals 51 points, AND an insane rune and dice (to heal) luck. In reality I think 5-9 trays is what is feasable. Last game I managed 3 due to being intercepted by an Uthuk rush (yes I played badly, but you can't run and raise or heal at the same time). And note that trays raised during the match is less valuable each round they are delayed, as for example the trays you raise round 8 is unlikely to perform as much as if you started with them. And if you end with a larger unit than what was set up they are not worth any victory points.
Optimal round breakdown as far as I can tell:
2 + 2 + Heal (4hp) + 2 + 2 + Heal (4hp) + 2 + 2
