Fun squads/scenarios for casual play

By BigBadAndy, in X-Wing Squad Lists

One of the really cool aspects of Xwing to me is the ability to set up all kinds of interesting or thematic lists and play them against each other for fun without worrying about whether the squad would hold up in a tournament. Clearly there’s a lot of people playing the game in a lot of variant setups.

So what’s your favorite fun setup? I’ve had a blast playing the three faction scenario that comes with IG-2000 with my brother and my son. I also love flying Vader and two Tie Wingmen against any rebel ship list.

I’d love to hear about other simple, “mid tier” or thematic setups. Or even just opposing squads that lead to really interesting gameplay.

Well, its gotta be Luke, Wedge, Biggs vs Vader, Mauler Mithel, Backstaber and as many black squadron pilots as you can get. This is my default "welcome to x-wing" setup and I have yet to find a better introduction to the game.

Also, that three way scenario with the IG-2000 is absolutely a blast.

Have you got any epic ships, coz I have yet to find a campaign that I haven't enjoyed immensely.

No epics for me yet. I’m thinking about it but it seems like a almost a completely different game.

The 'Old Guy' list is one of my favorites:

Rebs

3 x Z95

2 x rookie T65's

1 x blue Bwing

guns, guns, guns....

Cheers:)

Yeah, epic does play fairly differently, in that generics are king and aces tend to take a back seat, but the huge ships are great fun (if a little easy to blow up) Just seeing them on the table is pretty cool though. I`ve probably played more epic than standard x-wing so my raider and gozanti full of bombers tend tgo see a lot of table time.

take a look at the Objective Format

pretty fun way to fly.

Can you tell me how/where I can learn more about the objective format?
