Fun List (inspired by recent article)

So, with the announcement of the Tie Reaper pack and the almost complete reveal of Krennic/optimised prototype, I have been thinking about how to get the most value from him. Obviously, once you have placed his condition, Krennic is pretty much sitting there taking up a slot and doing very little else...but wait!! What if Krennic had some sort of personal rivalry with a moff? What if the moff was simply using him to get something done then take the glory for himself? Yes indeed, Moff Jerjerrod is one conniving %£%$£$%. I present to you a list designed to improve one ship dramatically, allow the other ship to endure much punishment while promoting the main reason we all love the imps....political backstabbing!! (this list is not really made for tourneys but just something I thought I'd share with you for fun, also, this is the first thread I`ve actually started so using it as a learning experience. If I am violating any kind of forum etiquette please be kind enough to point this out, thanks)

Vader does all the work... decimator infuriates opponent by refusing to die.......

Yes I know... I did say it was silly......

Idea being Vader does most of the damage, deci sits there taking shots when it can and discarding various faceup cards when it wants (kick Krennic through the airlock first obviously, maybe followed by Isard if you really have to, while being all but immune to pilot faceups)

Not entirely sure about damage output, but if you can keep Vader alive, I`m sure the deci will really start to annoy opponents.....thoughts???? ( I should point out I have never been to an actual tournament, but this list is kinda tempting..guess you could describe me as "likes to play jank")

Not really a imperial player so can’t help with the list. But can help with this upgrade. You’re thinking of Reinforced Deflectors. Which is unfortunately a System slot upgrade, not a mod.

oh ****.....welll thanks for pointing that out anyways....so its pretty much down to throwing various officers out the door then.....

Right...so how do we make the deci even harder to kill?

Put palp on it, but that isn't what you're looking for. A deci at range 3 usually gets that extra green, so Kenkirk with EU and Isaard and Palp can maintain R3 fairly well, and mitigate a fair amount of damage every turn (thats my standard Kirk build). Toss in Expertise as the EPT and you've got a decent shot at dealing damage too. I used to run that Kirk w/ PTL Ryad x7, it was fairly effective.

So we are looking at engine upgrade for extra " lets get out of range 2" ability?

I understand the whole palp thing, but the point was to leverage usage out of Krennic, and I can't see anyone wanting to Jerjerrod Palp out the door........

I admit I am not a tourney payer, but I am considering it with the condition I fly a list I will find fun for many many hours..;....I don't mind Palp at all with his new rules but frankly I'm liking the look of the new cards too much (this may be a case of "shiny new toy syndrome", I am a 40k player after all)

Another option (rather than Jerjerrod and Determination) is Agent Kallus and Lone Wolf.

That turns your one green die into one green, rerolled , focused die, which will come up evade 5 times out of 6 against your 'picked target', and-- more importantly - boosts up your offence by the same amount.

Jerjerrod and Krennic is a nice pairing, though - as noted, once he's finished fettling Vader's TIE/x1 or Soontir's Royal Guard TIE, he's basically dead weight.

I don't think I'd pack them and determination; they're giving you the ability to fend off two criticals of your choice - do you really need determination as well?

I'd rather pack an EPT allowing the ship to do something to the enemy.

Lone wolf is also fantastic on Kenkirk, and MG is right, Kalus is also great on Kenkirk instead of palp, which frees a crew slot and 5 points. Your crew could easily be Rebel Captive, Isaard, and Kalus, especially in the current 2-3 ship meta.

Interesting ideas, I`d never even thought of Kallus (only ever used him on phantoms. Will have to give that a go....

So its been a while since i thought this up, but I'`ve had a chance to try out the original list and wooo... throwing Krennic and Jerjerrod out the hatch really saved my bacon (reduced two direct hits to face downs on the deci, meaning i managed to get the last shot in on a yv666 to win the game).

Optimised prototype (at least the bits we can see so far) is an absolute DEMON on Vader.

Then i thought wait a minute.... replaced Isaard with Kylo Ren and oh boy, up against a list with the same yv66 (which i believe was bossk pilot, greedo, recspec, hvy laser cannon and some stuff i cant quite remember along with two ion hvy scyks) and replaced Kenkirk with RAC and i actually ran my damage deck completely out of pilot crit cards. Between vaders +1 crit, and Rac's change focus to crit I had no problem at all utliizing IWSYTDS. Though I think I dont really need RAC, and that Kenkirk is probably the better way to go (its a lot of points in one ship after all).

In both games Jerjerrod`s ability was crucial to the survival of the deci. I think I may have seriously underestimated this card. Note however, that I have not played this with tournament time limits and it is a pretty slow war of attrition type of list and is probably more suited to casual gaming.

Relying on Vader for damage has really got me thinking about learning to use Tie Advanceds better.

Am now wanting to try the prototype card on Pure Sabacc or Whisper (I Really, really hope there is no more negative text on that card....)

Overall, the points made above about damage output from the Deci were valid (I`ll have to try it with expertise or something) but watching my gorgeous brick of a ship just sitting there laughing at crits all day was great .

Hopefully there won't be any nasty surprises on the optimized prototype card........
