Personally, I'd equip them in the Weapons Team slot, but if you're willing to cheat your opponent....
In actuality, I'd pair it with Intel officer, maybe ECM to keep it cheaper. Ackbar, probably. 5 reroll able red? It's a big, competent Arquitens. Yeah no Gunnery Team, but it'd be a decent Advanced Gunnery ship that isn't super crazy expensive. Put it with an IF! Pelta, @shmitty style
I think Gunnery Teams is more useful especially in an Ackbar list. Some experiment with OE instead and use Sato but the twins probably make that less needed.
I have used them on Paragon since GTs doesn't really benefit from the title. With Raymus and a QBT on an AFIIA you get a decent all round fire base that can really hurt on the double arcs.
I’ve run them on an assfrig with IO/Lando, ECM, and Enhanced Armament as the flagship of an ackbar trc90 swarm- it’s a ton of fun.
With a CF you are throwing 7 red dice with rerolls!!!

I think IF! pairs better with Gunnery Teams where it can boost both attacks, but C&S + IO has some potential.
The competition between C&S and GT for that weapon team slot on many ships is pretty close.
C&S and IO on a Lib has been working well for me. I know you asked about the AF, but I like advertising the twins as much as possible.
Why do people not Ackbar slash... I preferred vet gunners on the Ackbar assault frigate. This is just a whole lot better.

Generally have to get pretty close to slash and the AFII doesn't really have the tokens/health for it.

I like slashing with MC-30s. For the AF I am usually trying to maintain long range to help with survivability. Ackbar is a an offensive admiral that allows you to fly defensively and still maintain heavy firepower.
I have been loving C&S. I know I will get in one very heavy shot. I think one very heavy shot is better better than two mediocre ones. Especially since often you only have one target.
I think c&s makes AFs terrifying.
I think they were designed for mc75 armored cruiser. If they were officers, theyd actually see some play, but Im pretty sure people will opt for ls,oe whenever they can for rerolls. For Ackbar Af my personal preference is gt, its not hard to have 2 ships in red range in one arc. Obviously they help the first shot you take, but it wont shoot second time if you cant pull off the slash, and the second shot is unmodified... Im not sold on them.

That sounds like another neat idea. Battle Cruiser with Spinals to hit at long range? That's the only benefit I see for them over LS for Libs

Spinals, XI7s, IO, SW7, and C&S. Fantastic punching power. Reliably one-shots anything smaller than a Quasar and puts major pain on the big boys. I've two-shot a Cymoon from the flank. It has a higher damage ceiling than anything with LS because you don't have to remove a die for the re-rolls. SW7 lets you ignore the blues and use C&S exclusively for the reds. Works well for both Battle and Star Cruiser.

As someone who used Sato and Paragon, you're better off using OE so you can reroll all 6 black dice. 4 from Sato, 1 from Paragon, 1 from CF. OE is cheaper than the twins and is simply better.
The twins shine ONLY if you need to reroll a lot of reds ONCE. If you want to reroll black die, OE is better all around Blue are usually better served with SW-7's. The twins are niche, but useful

Raddus can ensure the the GT Lib gets nice close range shots and triggers QBT, while Exodus keeps shields up to protect against squads. Bail makes it a hard choice on first or second when you can deal an average of 9 damage. IO might be better, but Bail is legit.
