With my eyes reading the text from across the table is not working, seeing the images still works for me.

You shouldn't have to keep track yourself of something related to your oponent's list. That's what I call a clunky mechanic.

In our group, we made custom tokens for dual cards (especially usefun for the U-wing, when you can't open/close wings because of nearby ships)

That's why we use intensity as a token in our games. Works like a charm. Not clunky at all. And smaller than even placing dials besides your ship.

Old canon is definitely Star Wars, no matter what. Disney doesn't get to erase it from our memories.
That doesn't mean you should choose between the two , I can enjoy whatever's good in new canon (so far, only Rogue One, ok...).

Actually, that is exactly how it works. See how many times the Abrahamic religions have divided themselves over arguments over their bible canon or if they actually want to accept the bible, torah or koran as base.
Disney as IP owner are the ones who can dictate the official canon, but not what star wars means for the starwars fandom. That is up to decide for each follower of the faith (scnr). ;-)

Yes and no. Consider something that is a little bit older than anything that Disney could still OWN it. Like for example … Snow White and the Seven Draws and other older fairy tales. There are some different canons from different people. The Grimms were not the only ones who build their own.

Fanon seems still like a better term for modern fandom, because puns and wordplay are so important today. ;-)

The case of s-foils not being able to shoot looks like a case of the "Word of Dante": we all think it's true because of a non-canon source.

But Rebels is clearly officially canonized, so the shooting with closed s-foils is now, too. That means we're all wrong about our experience of Rogue Squadron and other games.

In all fairness, conditions are clunky. Reload is really a non issue, and Intensity, while I wouldn’t call clunky, is not a simple card.

I would have much preferred another route for the title (I also am not a fan of the s-foils dual card being a thing), but I’m willing to accept I’m in the minority.

But goodness does it irk me to have all these million and one players who made the same custom card idea over and over talking about how “right” they were and how they “called it”.

So maybe I’m just being indignant is all. Why, who knows.

That was my point: conditions are more clunky, dual cards are less clunky. Whether they qualify as clunky or not is opinion and up to everyone themselves.

I’m considering staring a thread titled “I called it, s-foils on xwings” to have everyone post their custom s-foil card so everyone can see how “original” they really were.
