If Wampa is your Optimized Prototype, can he spend one result to remove a shield and then cancel the rest to deal a facedown damage card? I think yes, since his ability and the condition have the same trigger window (when attacking), so you choose the order to resolve them.
Wampa+Krennic?
Wampa and Optimized Prototype might not trigger at the same time. The errata on Wampa gives that ability a more specific timing window at the start of the compare results step.
Optimized Prototype, as revealed in the article, could be resolved at any point during an attack as long as there are attack dice to cancel. Iām predicting this will be resolved in a future FAQ.
As things stand, I believe you could trigger Optimized Prototype before Wampa at the start of the compare results step and get both effects.
Yes. Optimised Prototype triggers in Modify Dice per the BSF rulebook. So yes this works fine.

If you cancel a critical result , deal 1 facedown Damage card to the defender.
I would use Zuckuss as an example to say your combo can work. Per the FAQ...
If Zuckuss is used to reroll 1 or more of the defender's dice, effects that allow the defender to reroll "all" of their dice (such as First Order Vanguard) can still be resolved for as many dice as possible (in this case, those that were not already rerolled).
Yes. Spend the non-crit during dice mod to eat a shield. Cancel the crit during compare results to do a face-down damage.
Thing is there is some text on the Optimized Prototype card that we can not read (yet). Maybe it is preventing this kind of combo (like Accuracy Corrector).

Right.
While on the surface, what we think Optimized Prototype does will work naturally with Wampa, we should be wary of final pronouncements until we have the full and final text (it could change, too!).
I have heard that"spending a die result" is covered in the rules pamphlet for the resistance bomber, but I don't have one. Could someone please look at theirs to confirm, and post what it says if so?

Nspace was good enough to do that in this thread.

Some card abilities allow dice results to be spent. After a result is spent, the die containing it is removed from the rolled dice. A removed die is no longer part of the roll and does not contribute any other effects. Spending dice results is not a dice modification.
When attacking or defending, dice results are spent during the "Modify Dice" step unless specified otherwise. For other effects, the time at which the die result is spent is specified by the source of the ability.
Great, thanks
@joeshmoe554
! That clears up Wampa+OP pretty conclusively
OP spends a result during the modify step and Wampa cancels a critical during the compare step (as per his errata'd text). As long as you started with at least two dice you're good to go.
Man, as it stands, Krennick's condition is totally OP.
though as of now, it also requires a 26 point investment (until we learn about the reaper generic) and prevents you from adding palp unless you are using a deci

Imperial A**holes (98):
Captain Oicunn ā VT-49 Decimator 42
Director Krennic 5
Emperor Palpatine 8
Tactical Jammer 1
Dauntless 2
Ship Total: 58
"Wampa" ā TIE Fighter 14
Stealth Device 3
Ship Total: 17
Lieutenant Colzet ā TIE Advanced 23
Fire-Control System 0
TIE/x1 0
Ship Total: 23
Use Krennic to optimize Wampa, Oicunn to act as a wrecking ball/blocker, Palpatine to always roll a crit, and Colzet to flip it up after you deal the card. This is probably (almost definitely) a terrible list but I am so gonna try it when the Reaper drops.

yeah if you are using Oicunn, Daredevil and inspiring recruit are definitely must haves for efficiency of his pilot ability, and engine upgrade so as not to get damaged from DD, but
all
most of the imperial jank is in that list

Those are far from must haves.

I flew yesterday against an Oicunn with Predator, Dauntless, APL, Mara Jade, Rebel Captive, and Moff Jerjerod. It seemed to work quite well for him. I had the misfortune of having my IG-88's Contraband Cybernetics K-turn just barely not clear. Otherwise, I'd be chasing and close behind a ship without Engines, but the best laid plans...
