Because I'd much prefer The Falcon be 100% Han and Chewie's thing by the time we see it, not, "Yeah we just shot off some parts in a hurry some years back."
That's lame.

I love Mini-Ship. In fact I ship Mini-Ship and GUNBOAT.

o_O
Because the only thing that happened is they launched off a shuttle.
Yeah.
No repainting, replacing or removing of multiple armour panels, mounting new weapons, fixing up the space that the shuttle left in the ship, including presumbly closing off a door between it and the main crew areas, refitting the hyperdrive, etc etc etc.
I really, really don't understand your objection here. You seem to have decided you don't like this and retroactively found justification, and I really don't get why you decided you don't like it in the first place. It seems pretty cool to me, and it's far from without precedent in Legends-era lore.
Maybe see the movie before you decide it's terrible?

Wow that's totally what I said.
Do you actually think a guy who design ships, actually think I haven't noticed EVERY change to The Falcon? CLEARLY I was exaggerating. But no, clearly, clearly a guy who accounts for the fuel lines in their designs is speaking 100% literally.
Holy **** dude.
>Maybe see the movie before you decide it's terrible?
AND WHO EVEN SAID THIS? Look, I'm not enthused with their choice for Han but I am TRYING to go in with an open mind, I just really frakkin' dislike this toyetic shuttle thing that I don't think has a place on The Falcon, and still don't believe is a part of its function- makes zero sense.
Come, on dude, don't just put words into my mouth like that.
I’m still tryin to figure out why Han added extra landing gears between ANH and ESB. I assume the surface defense cannon was added between movies as well since he acts like Leia hasn’t seen it and Chewie didn’t fire it in Mos Eisley.
and did Lando make any other mods after ESB besides removing the dish?

Basically why I like this Falcon. And why I'm against the ejecting pod. That kind of thing needs to be a deliberate mass cutting mod by Han.

It might make sense that a ship as big as the Falcon could have problems docking with or landing on another ship.
For example, the Falcon is seen docked to the frigate in ESB with a tube, but perhaps other ships or situations would make this much harder.
Some bigger ships with hangars might have problems accommodating the YT-1300 in their hangars. Some buildings or stations might have smaller landing pads that wouldn't be appropriate for a ship of the size of the Falcon.
It doesn't require so much effort to rationalize that if the Ghost has a shuttle to deliver people to smaller hangars, other ships, or to land on planets in a way that is more subtle than flying the whole ship, then the YT-1300 could make use of the same.
The Phantom I was also blocky and ugly because it was designed to look like part of the Ghost's hull.
This pod or shuttle looks horrible as a ship on its own merits. But as a complement to another ship, it's bearable.
NEW THEORY!
Tag and Bink steal the little shuttle during their confirmed cameo.

‘We’re not gonna make it unless we loose some weight. Chewie, jettison everything we can, escape pods, explosive panel bolts, everything!’
WHHRRRAAARRRGHHH!!!!
’I don’t care if Khaleesi is in the forward shuttle, it’s gotta go!’
Han, my spice shipment is in there!
’Sorry Lando, I wish there was another way. Just don’t go freezing me in carbonite or something.’ *cheesy joke grin*
*sounds and visuals of all the shiny cool parts falling off of the Falcon or being blown clear*
Khaleesi: SOLO! We had a deal!!!! NOOOOOO
yeah, that’s gonna be one awesome scene,

I thought the Phantom I was a highly modified Nu class Attack Shuttle and was not a standard addition to the VCX. The huge guns seem to be far out of proportion for a civilian shuttle, even one made by CEC. The Spectres seem to treat it as a nasty surprise for anyone chasing the Ghost in the first season, so I assumed it was a custom job. The use of another clone wars era non-CEC shuttle as replacement points to customization rather than intended feature.
But then my Rebels knowledge isn’t all that great. But just a little research shows that for some reason the first Phantom was indeed intended as a ‘factory standard’ auxiliary craft for that model transport. What ever.
Edited by GrimmyVMaybe the out-of-proportion guns are Hera's touch and the factory model is just a shuttle.

The Ghost is quite a lot larger than The Falcon, though. At least two decks, an actual cargo bay, man you name it, it's extra thicc compared to The Falcon.
I dunno man. Both shuttles for The Ghost have had glass canopies, but this lacks one entirely.

It's apparently a VCX-series Auxiliary Starfighter.
The Phantom was a modified version however...

I think you would be surprised as to how many fans don’t realize this little fact.
And yet there are still places the Falcon wouldn't be able to go on its own.
But hey, maybe Firefly spoiled me. Tiny freighter, capable of carrying a pretty small amount of stuff - still had not one but two shuttles, for when you needed to send someone off on their own, when you didn't want to pay landing fees for your whole main ship, for when the space was too tight, etc etc etc. Heck, Firefly didn't do this, but tug duties, even. just getting freight into the right places when you don't want to land the whole ship.
The reasons why even a small freighter might want a small accessory ship are manifold.
I just don't get why people see this as dumb instead of cool.

Does the ghost have more than one deck? I can’t remember

Yep. It has a cargo deck, with the living areas and cockpit above that, and finally a mini deck on top with access to the turret and the docked shuttle.

Yeah, that alone makes it much bigger than the YT series

A firefly is much bigger than the falcon, though. Roughly the length of a gozanti, but much bulkier.
Great reason for the nose ship; you go to smuggle something illegal, drop out of hyperspace, disengage the nose, land legally, let the nose ship go do the pickup. Then you rendevous before jumping out of system.

I would be. It's extremely large as a vessel, but you would think the massive XWMG model would be a dead giveaway. Given it has a special peg designed for just it, y'know?

The Cargo Deck is actually below the primary deck, which is below the smaller deck with the shuttle and turret access.
