Sure, but why though? A YT-1300 doesn't need a shuttle. A VCX-100 absolutely does.

Why does the Ghost need one particularly when the Falcon doesn't?
They're both mid-range mid-size freight/passenger carriers, they both have just as much reason to need a shuttle as each other.

Most of that ridge down the middle of the craft is on a hinge.
The join between crafts runs across the ridge just behind the second line of blue lights - and just in front of that is the hinge, and you can see that part is separate all the way to the front - there's even a gap at the tip of the nose to get a finger in to lift it open.
It might just be a hatch to put an out-of-scale action figure inside, but it might also be a pop-up cockpit.

If this is indeed its function in the movie, I wonder if this is the only part that Lando gets to keep?

It's a "pop-up" canopy.

Turns out Han just left Lando in it and never came back for it... just told everyone he won it in a "hand of Sabbacc" to save face and so Lando is legitimately irritated with him during ESB.

Let me rephrase, since the hinge was very obvious.
There is no
transparent canopy
, which is the telltale sign of a manned vessel in Star Wars. I know of zero canon ships that have no canopies.
Plot twist
Giving it a wedge shape like that makes it look Imperial.

Some images of the
Solo's
Lando's Falcon actually do have transparent canopies. Look in this image the lateral canopies:
Now... for upper/front canopy, it might be "shielded" by something until it is actually detached of the main body.
Know that, since Ep IV, Star Wars is all about toys and merchandising, I have no doubts the nose will be detachable and actually some sort of mini-ship.
I am practically
screaming
in frustration. Obviously the Falcon has a transparent canopy. It's always had one. At no point did I suggest otherwise- who would even do that?
But
the big pointy bit at the front ain't got a canopy to look like a shuttle enough for me to believe it is one and
given how it seemlessly merges with the hull
I do not believe it is a shuttle addition.
Now I could be wrong! But I'm not betting on it.
Just- just maybe, guys. Maybe,
maybe
Hasbro is reusing most of an old mold, tweaking it, and throwing in toyetic stuff for kids to have fun with?
Unless you're gonna tell me this is canon because Hasbro did it.
It's not.
So ... outer rim smuggler stats ?

While I agree it is not likely, there *IS* a possibility, hence why I started this thread.
However, toy wise, there is in the official description mention of a removable mini ship. Going by the removable panels shown, the only likely place to put this ship is the nose. The raised sections above where landing ramp (and opposite) will likely hold the batteries.
While some liberties will be taken by toys, there maybe some truth. Heck, if you look at the Lego sets nose, it even looks like there is some seperation. We then have two toys, by seperate companies possibly implying this nose section is a ship, or some way detaches. The Lego set does have a clear piece that could be a viewport on the raised square section.

TBH I discounted this as a little ramscoop lookin deal.
That ship isnt a yt1300, let alone the falcon. its cannon that the falcons front notch is for pushing cargo because its a modified yt1300 space tug.
the ship in the new film appears to be a YT2000 modification

While I like that as a concept, the sketch that originally suggested it predates the Disney acquisition. Do you have a source for its canonization under Disney?
Just realized, the front.... thing (whatever it is), kinda screws up the easter egg of the Falcon in the prequels.
Great, lets have the Fat Han and the Ghost/Phantom all in one large abomination.
At least it won't have TLTs

not really.. from the images released so far, and the toy pics, it looks like the extension is a cargo module or maybe even a small ship that is just docked between the mandibles.

One of its modifications probably was the mini-ship or whatever the toy companies are calling the thing between the mandibles.
The other panels that fly of are probably never replaced and the shuttle is lost to whatever that tentacle thing in the kessel run is.
Then Han upgrades the hyperdrive and weapons.

your explanation certainly makes sense, but earlier cannon sources and George Lucas himself contradict Disneys new story, hence if that is actually the falcon its a retconn.
I suppose it might be a temporary mod Lando did for a couple months in between existing stories? i dunno, my vote is that its a dumb way for disney to sell kids and collectors a tenth Millenium Falcon toy. or sell X-wing players a 3rd millenium falcon toy. ugh

Lament it all you want, but get ready for the
New Outer Rim Smuggler meta
once everyone has 3 Falcons

The Ghost is much larger, when you get down to it.

That never
had to be
The Falcon, for what it's worth. Unless we want to start suggesting that ET's race really is in Star Wars.

Except the whole point of this subject is that the stock 1300 looks like that and the Falcon has been modified.
Personally, I don't want that section to be a meant to be detachable element of the ship but rather that Han had to get out there with a plasma torch and spare hull plating during one of his modification, it would make the history of the ship much more interesting. Unfortunately, as someone mentioned, 2 different toys by 2 different companies both seem to have made that piece removable, and I dug up a picture from some news article about the movie that sure looks like there is a seam between the section in question and the familiar mandibles, so I don't really have any hope that it isn't a small auxiliary shuttle of some sort.
Oh, and of course ET's species is in SW. They are right there in the senate. Sheesh.

Ok so there's some confusion, turns out.
I am also against this thing having a detachable element.
Severely, even. That's silly. It serves zero purpose. I meant
THIS
never
had to be
The Falcon, though I thought such apparent.
