Marksman and Element of surprise

By topacesteve, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

a.Just to clarify this... if my figure is in front of a Bantha and i move 0mps and secondly declare attack can i use element of surprise? or should i use one ore two mps first so that the declararion is after the start of my activation.

b.Also , if Han solo gets ordered to attack by Leia can he play Element of surprise or not since its not his activation?

Ummm... I'm not 100% what you mean on the first one, but from interpretation I'll say this. Bantha is a massive figure and doesn't block line of sight. So, if that is what you think is breaking LoS, then Element of Surprise doesn't work.
EDIT: As said below, yeah, Bantha does block LoS there. In my mind, I had two massive figures there for some reason (ala, a bantha was defending as well.) My mistake.
As for the second scenario here is the rule FAQ:
"You can play Element of Surprise on an attack outside of the figure’s activation. When this happens, you would check if the target had line of sight to the attacker at the start of the current activation. If this happens during Start of Round or End of Round effects, it checks for line of sight at the start of that effects step.
Hope that helps!

So, Han can play EoS, but you just calculate Line of Sight between the target and Han at the start of Leia's turn.

Yes, you can combine Marksman with Element of Surprise, because at the start of your activation Bantha is negating LOS between you and the target.
As for Marksman on Han with Leia, Todd said enough XD

Doesn't block LOS in or out to them, not to other figures. If he wants to shoot through the Bantha to another target, then Bantha is actually blocking LOS, so with Marksman the target becomes eligible to EoS

Correction, Banthas (massive figures in general) do block LOS. The rule is that other figures do not block LOS from them (when they attack for instance) or to them (when they are being attacked). They do block LOS for other figures drawing LOS to other figures.

As @erlucius90 says, yes you can use Element of Surprise in combination with Marksman in your scenario.

Except if the target is another Massive figure. Then the Bantha doesn't block line of sight to it or from it.

Thank you , all, i compeletely ignored the ruling of EoS outside an activation of the figure who performs it.

I had missed the Faq
