The best Scum Nym

Nym is one of the best pilots in the game but what is actually his best build?

The standard stuff for him is as follows:

Veteran Instincts, autoblaster Turret/TLT, Extra Munitions, Cruise/Harpoon Missiles, Bomblet Gen, LRS/Guidance Chips

now for my question would you put on either:

1) Boba Fett

2) Cad Bane

3) Havoc

3a) Trajectory Simulation + Genius

3b) FCS + Genius

3c) Acc Corector + Genius

I'm lacking in the new ship dept.(waiting on order from flgs), so I've been running;

Nym(scum)

Title, VI, accuracy corrector, auto blaster turret, Genius,bomblet gen

Fenn

Title, PTL, autothrusters

Black sun enforcer(viper)

auto thrusters

Wicked combo, especially close range.

the Viper is great for blocking and if it is ignored it can be very annoying...

My thoughts on Nym:

1) Missiles are entirely optional, unless that is your focus.

2) If you are running bomblets, either turret is good, VI is perfect, Havoc - Adv. Sensors is my fav, but TS has merits - probably not a crew

3) I LOVE running Nym with Mines: Predator, TLT, Havoc, Enhanced Scopes, R4-E1, EM, 2x Mines of your choice. You can drop EXACTLY where they need to be, even after a red, knowing precisely where your opponent will be, and your TLT shots both get rerolls always.

@Greebwahn , what would you recommend for the mod slot? Guidance Chips is ideal if you use missiles but what are your thoughts to help and combine with action bombs and Enhanced Scopes?

BTW, option 3 seems really fun... I say have to use it this weekend if I can get a game in.

I'm assuming you don't have Guns For Hire yet, because if you like Starvipers now, you're gonna LOVE them when you have the new title in hand.

The scum Nym I run is really fun.

Night Brother:

Captain Nym (8): PTL, Autoblaster Turret, Extra Munitions, Cluster Missles, Cluster Mines, Engine Upgrade and Maul - 52 pts.

I know it looks unconventional, but it has served me well in store tournaments. It flys different than most nym's by either pushing to get locks and reposition and fire clusters (and using maul to clear stress), pushing to drop mines in front of high PS aces and then autoblasting (and clearing stress with maul) or just locking and using Maul to reroll both cluster missle salvos (potentially). I mainly fly it aggressively in people's faces and try and leave a wake of destruction.

GC for missiles yes. EU is great when you have Bomblets. Experimental Interface could be fun on the minelayer if you have the points, because you can maybe get some extra actions in when needed.

Thanks for the advice. I got a game in the weekend and went the Experimental Interface route and it was pretty clutch to be honest. Here is the list I ran with a 2 point bid:

Captain Nym (50 Pts)

  • VI, TLT, EM, Proximity Mines x2, Havoc, Experimental Interface, Enhanced Scope, R4-E1

Asajj Ventress (48 Pts)

  • Lone Wolf, Latts Razzi, Glitterstim x2, Countermeasures

Total Squad Points: 98

This may be my new favorite list to fly. It gives flexibility for me to modify the bomb loadout without eating too much into my bid. I got to move first and shoot first the whole match. It was awesome to use EI and R4-E1 together which got me out of a pretty tough spot. I did contemplate placing Ion Cannon Turret on Nym to force the low agility ships to fly into the bombs I just dropped. It would also give me a 3 point bid. Thoughts about making it better?

I could see ICT being a good choice! I am still a big fan of Predator EPT on Minelayer Nym, but I can see the value of shooting at PS 10.

I confess, I am a big fan of PTL rather that LW on Asajj, but LW has a lot of support, so it must be good haha

I know the topic is about Nym, but wouldnt Sol Sixxa be a better minelayer? Or do you take advantage of the evades from the bombs alot?

Sol is also a great Minelayer, but Nym's ability is better.

I really contemplated using ICT as well and that might be the only tweak I try in my next game. I was really lucky being able to stay out of range 1 which was the difference maker in my game.

In terms of Lone Wolf, I really like the ability to potentially needing multiple rerolls in a turn if/when my opponent teams up on Asajj. I normally have to fly against both Rebel & Imperial swarm so it definitely helps in my scenario. That being said, PTL is amazing as well.

I would have to disagree. I think personally sols ability is better but the PS is so important that Nym is usually the better option

Why not fly both? Load Nym with Bomblets / EU and Sol with Havoc / Action bombs. I read this in another thread so I won't take credit for it but it's not the exact build (props to whomever did):

Captain Nym (46 Pts):

  • VI, TLT, Cad Bane, Bomblet Generator, EU

Sol Sixxa (49 Pts) :

  • Predator, ICT, EM, Proximity Mines x2, Havor, EI, Enhanced Scopes, R4-E1

Total Squad Points = 95

This way Nym can take advantage of a field full of mines to hopefully add an Evade every turn while Sol moves first and preps the battle field and establishes lanes. Coming in a 95 points it can be modified to taste... Thoughts?

YES. I've suggested Nym/Sol in a few threads!

However, I like Predator on Nym too, and often 1 Cluster Mines and 1 Conner Net on Sol

@Greebwahn , thanks for the original suggestions. I couldn't find the original thread you posted to so I couldn't give you the proper credit. Being at 95 points, you can add both of your suggestions to Nym and still have a 3 point bid. Can even upgrade Sol tot TLT for 98 points total. The ability to curve bombs is just too much fun.

Heck man, someone might have suggested it before me and I didn't realize when I previously posted it, so don't necessarily give me the credit haha

But it is a fun team!
