Couple of questions (encounter, mission, Diala and Jyn)

By Whitebubble, in Legends of the Alliance

Hi everybody,

funnily enough the more I play (and the app allows me to do so) the more questions I have :) Okay, it's less questions rather then writing down my interpretation and hoping for some kind of confirmation by you guys.

  1. Encounters:
The rulebook states that you should ready your hero sheets and all your reward and XP cards for an encounter. Then when you have to test something (and there are many tests) I assume you can use the corresponding abilities, correct? I am thinking about Diala's Force Adept or Jyn's Smuggler's luck. These abilities let you re-roll a huge amount of dices during an encounter (and a mission of course). To me this makes Diala almost a must have choice when playing the app campaign. The way I play those abilities is that for Jyn I have to exhaust the card. So I can only use this once during an encounter. For Diala I can exhaust to add a blue dice once but I can reroll up to five dices during the encounter. The encounter seems to be something like one activation in this sense.
What about other abilities like Saska's Battle Technician? Can she distribute one of her tokens during an encounter and suffer a strain? This is totally unclear to me. Can she do it twice if she has Gadgeteer? Can other heros use the token for Practical Solutions and can you play Toolkit on those? My interpretation is yes. What do you think?

The other thing I came across is: Are you allowed to change your XP cards for an encounter? Jyn's Smuggler Luck is a good example. I wouldn't like to take this one to a mission (app) due to the fact that you often receive Rebel Recon and you cannot use the third ability (draw one additional card during the upgrade stage) and would chose Quick as a Whip instead. But after a mission just before an encounter I can exchange my two 1-XP cards to benefit from the Smuggler Luck and after the encounter I can change back to Quick as Whip for the next mission. Correct?

This to me is a quite new feeling as I can modify my heros and train them accordingly to the challenge ahead.

One real side question: Is it correct that I can use Diala's Force Adept only once during an attack or a test? Or can I use it multiple time? E.g. I am rolling a blue and yellow dice, decide to reroll my yellow dice (spend one strain), don't like the total output and decide to reroll my blue dice (for another strain). Or is the timing instance over after rolling the yellow dice?
  2. Second last mission (Spoiler):

I played that mission with Jyn and her Quickdraw. When the two turrets activate and I want to interrupt do I have to shoot the turrets or Weiss? Or better: Can I shoot the turrets as they are no figures? If they are objects I cannot use Quickdraw on them. Or are the turrets activating Weiss who is then the active figure so I can use Quickdraw on him?
Btw. I had my first really odd spawn during this mission: A Bantha was deployed next to a Nexu and an eNexu and three eStormies.
Weiss was basically overseeing a zoo of creatures and had 3 stormies to take care of these creatures (1 on 1)

The heroes do not activate during encounters, so Saska cannot use her Battle Technician.

I don't remember the wording. Note that Jyn can only quick-draw figures. I may be completely wrong, but I don't think the turrets are figures but objects you can attack.

Force Adept can be used once per opportunity, i.e. once per attack or attribute test.

Easy/normal mode allows to change class cards any number of times, Hard mode allows it once (?).

That's okay for me. I haven't played her in LotA but came across this when dialing with Diala or Jyn

that is my understanding too. The confusion is that the turrets activate Weiss or Weiss is executing the activation (he attacks and he recovers). So yes, if we consider that the turrets activate I agree with you. While playing my impression was that it's more Weiss that is active than the turrets.

Thanks

Really? Okay, that is completely new to me. But interesting. Something I have to check

I double checked this. You can change xp-cards and time and multiple times (also in hard mode)

The text for the turrets is:

General Weiss performs this activation. He gains...Blabla

Then he has an activation list:

=> General Weiss attacks the hero...

=> General Weiss recovers 2dmg

So is it the turret's activation or Weiss'?

That says pretty much literally that the figure is activating instead of the object.

General Weiss performs this activation
