Adaptable Raddus

By AdmiralRaddushes, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

I’m fairly new to the forum and to the game, so I’m trying to come up with a solid list I can bring to the table against varying opponents and not get wiped. So far I’ve flown a variety of different types of builds, with some successes and some failures. I think sticking to the same kind of list for a while will be good for me, based on where I think I am on the learning curve.

With that in mind I’ve gravitated toward Raddus, and not just because he’s the newest kid on the block. I think the adaptability he brings to deployment in particular could allow his fleet to roll with the punches depending on what shows up on the other side of the table, how it is flown, what the objectives are, and what the order of play is. I’ll also confess that I’ve lost more than one match specifically because I deployed poorly... So maybe he’s just a crutch after all?

Self diagnostics aside, here’s my list. Tear it apart! Suggest anything!

The Profundity starts out as the only plastic on the board. Either the other player guns for it right away, or ignores it and goes right for the objective. Either way the goal is to get them in a scramble to do something (anything) quickly, while they have the advantage. Raddus wants them to be rushed. He has strategic advisor to buy himself a bit of time and not feel too rushed himself. EWS allows him to guarantee reduction in potential damage coming his way from multiple targets, and RLB with Jan + Escorts allows him to throw out a small fighter screen if a squad ball is inbound. EA, ACM and Heavy Ion Emplacements let him adapt to enemy ships at long-med on the sides and close-med in the front (generally he’s headed towards the juiciest target and won’t be at long range in the front for long anyway). Caitken and Shollan let him fish for blue or black crits. Both crit effects are good for wearing away at fresh targets, the goal here is to soften a couple ships up depending on what he is facing.

The profundity-nested CR90 does a couple things, but it’s supposed to give Raddus some flexibility. If he’s in a pinch, but not in an ideal position to deploy the MC30 yet he can drop the CR90 instead, which could rush at speed 5 (ET) towards a needed objective. A speedy launch like this would also work if using it as a hyperspace point for Raddus’ ability. Or, it can provide some certainty of long range damage thanks to TRC, which is useful since the MC75 doesn’t have teeth in it’s front arc at that range. Blast doors give it some survivability, since it’s normally fairly squishy and may deploy early-ish. Leia is there in case I n00b up my MC75’s command stack and need an emergency change (any bad commands will have serious reprecussions with this little plastic on the table).

MC30 is the hammer, and should be dropped in to double arc a single target. Not sold on the upgrades I picked here.

If your big ship is set up as a shield shredder with ACMs and HIEs then admonition shouldn't be a shield piercer with its XI7s. Put ACMs on it instead of the expensive expanded launchers and probably drop the turbolaser or think about DTTs or TRCs.

DTTs on the MC75 makes sense as it is unlikely to fire out of both side arcs and you may wish to add the effect fro the front arc.

RLBs with such a small contingent can probably go. With the above savings you could get a flotilla or add 2 Z95s or a third X-Wing.

Stop thinking you need an upgrade in every slot.

Thanks for the tips, here’s version 2. I feel like I could get more out of the squads now that I have some extra points, and I’m not sure how important a good bid will be...
