Still a Rumor, but Ubisoft and Activison may get the Star Wars License

I'd love to see some smaller titles do a completely different spin on Star Wars too. A time-spanning grand strategy by Paradox Interactive for example.
Still, as long as TT keeps their license and bothers giving us a Lego TLJ and Lego Rogue One movie, I'll be happy no matter what happens. ![]()
I just want a new X-wing. A REAL X-wing Space Combat Simulator. Give it a classic-style scripted campaign, a dynamic offline campaign (a'la European Air War) and for giggles an Aces High-style Arena.
I'd like to see an offline open-world RPG -- Skyrim in Star Wars.

It’s called KOTOR. Kotor 3 would be cool if someone does it right. ?

Kotor hasn't been done right so far... why start now?
**** not Ubisoft their crap drm ruins the pc versions of every game, hate having to buy a game then download the cracked version so it's playable.
well...ubisoft isnt ea...so theres that..
Though a polished turd is still a turd.

While an RPG along the lines of KotOR would be great too, I'm actually hoping for something a bit more freeform. Like, I'm told I have the aptitude to become a Jedi. I decide that's not for me, and go join the bounty hunter's guild for 15 levels, until the (totally unscripted) death of my best friend I met in that spicerunning side-quest makes me rethink my life and I join the Jedi Order as the grizzled veteran of a hundred grim encounters with much to unlearn. ...

Star Wars Galaxies?

Sort of, I guess! I wasn't old enough to have played Galaxies. I'd personally prefer an offline game, though.

What you describe was pretty much my career in galaxies outside accepting jedi. I hated Jedi and thought it was a mistake adding them to game. I absolutely refused to become one but unlocked every force power I could to help me be a bounty hunter. I was pretty good too but they made jedi such an alpha class that unless you had a crazy burn weapon or attacked as a group (which made no sense for a BH) you were screwed. I became one of the best shipwrights on the server and a very good pilot. So I took to the skies and burned many jedi and muggles alike. I was a scurge of orbital space and brought much glory to my emperor and empire.
Pity you didn’t get to try galaxies, it would have been right up your ally.
Edited by LordFajubiNot sure what to think of this, because I'm not that much of a gamer. It's not that I don't like video games, it's just that most modern first-person shooters are too poorly animated and move around too spastically and give me bad motion sickness. As a result, I'm a pretty casual gamer and the extent of my video game knowledge is limited to the LEGO games, the old Star Wars PC games, the classic Nintendo games, and anything that you'd find in a pinball parlor or the back of an old pizza store. What else have Ubisoft and Activision made that you all liked? Is this good news, or is it just more stuff that I'll be ambivalent to?
I'm not confident Ubisoft or Activision would be an improvement. They're no better than EA in terms of business practices. They don't get the bad press EA does because they don't have an effective monopoly on what they make. If you want a generic modern FPS shooter and you don't like Activision's offering you just buy a different one. If you want a Star Wars shooter it's EA's offering or nothing at all.
Providing both a bad service and the only service makes for very bad press. Providing a bad service when you're not the only service means no press at all.
A lot of licence shuffling these days. Just heard Bandai can't make power ranger toys anymore. (for context they've been doing that since '93)
Bandai America lost the license with Saban. I think Bandai Japan still does the sentai.
Ubisoft at least supports the Switch. So, I am hopeful.

And yet EA swore blind they couldn't be removed as they were integrated too deeply.
Such massive scumbags should not still be in business.
This is why Exclusivity deals should be subject to Anti-trust laws. Because face it, the corporation won't regulate themselves until it **** up so bad they risk losing money (notice I didn't say they lost a cent yet).

I'm hoping Rockstar take my demand to set GTA VI (veteran instincts?) in the Star Wars universe seriously....
