In my game I introduced swoop bike racing and the group loved it and want to do more. One of the players wants to take the racer spec from the sentinel career. Im running the game as AOR, and want to stay away from the force in the game.

There are 3 Force talents on the tree and im looking for good replacements for them, do you have and concerns i should think of for allowing access to this tree.

The 3 force talents that I need to replace are:

Force rating 20 points

Superhuman reflexes - 25 points

Intuitive evasion - 25 points. (Figure defensive driving for this one. )

Dedication obviously for the Force rating.

Why not Pilot, Hot Shot, or Driver from Ace?

Is it their first spec? If not they have no force die and gain no benefit from force talents.

Otherwise I would probably just say they don’t realize they’re force sensitive and can’t take force powers without training.

No the would be an additional spec. They currently have pilot but like this since it is more designed for racing. Hot shot may work closely for it as well, and since they probably wont get the personal talents it may be better.

I forgot about dedication so that would take a 25 points talent, then defensive driving can take the 20 point since those are there normal locations on the trees. Then would just need 1 more 25 point talent to swap out.

There is already a dedication talent on the tree, so I would pick something else. Having 2 characteristics bumps near each other on the same tree would be pretty darn powerful. The problem you are going to run into are redundancies with the other pilot trees, but Natural Driver and Heroic Fortitude or Hold Together might work.

I'm running a game with a similar racing bent, and the Driver PC just picked up Racer. We talked about it, and he's just going to skip purchasing those talents.

When he gets down that far, I intend to offer to let him take Superhuman Reflexes, but he won't gain the extra successes from Cool unless he goes Force Sensitive. That will give him a route to all of the Talents without having to buy anything his character can't use. We try to play pretty close to RAW, and the I read a dev ruling that you could buy a Force spec without being a force sensitive, but you had to buy the force Talents on the tree and just not get to use them.

Alternately, looking at Genesys, their tier four driving Talent is Defensive Driving. That could replace Force Rating. Tier 5 could be Indomidable (spend a Destiny Point to avoid being incapacitated by exceeding WT or ST until the end of your next turn), and another Grit or Shortcut.

Replace Force Rating with Defensive Driving and the two 25XP talents with Offensive Driving (which is perfect for a racer) and either Natural or Master Driver/Pilot (or create a new talent called Natural/Master Racer that uses both Piloting skills and not Gunnery).

Replace them with Black market contacts... ALL OF THEM!
