OUTRAGE! I CAN'T BELIEVE FFG DIDN'T MAKE A CREW CARD FOR BOR GULLET!

No K2-S0 is a little miffing, but Bur Gullet really needed a crew card:

Bor Gullet (0 Point crew upgrade)
He will know the truth. [flavour text only]

I might make one tomorrow... ;)

I like the fact that it doesn't do anything other than get kicked out an airlock by Chopper.

I mean, I love Rogue One, but Bor Gullet's interrogation scene did nothing to further the plot (other than help establish Saw's paranoia) and had no impact to the story other than making Bohdi talk funny for a few minutes.

He was the film’s creature feature. Every Star Wars movie has one. Unfortunately, they haven’t made an action figure of him yet. When they do, I’m all over it.

Yeah, the Bor Gullet scene is actually pretty terrible. Almost as bad as the pointless Vader/Krennic scene that takes up 4 minutes and adds nothing to the plot, and doesn't tell us anything about Krennic we didn't already know. And ends in an awful, awful joke.

Really, the Bor Gullet scene could have been eliminated, and you could even dub in a line from Baze or Chirrut about Bodhi being drugged to explain why he was talking funny. I also love Rogue One, but they appear to made a bit of a mess of it in reshoots. So much wasted screen time that we could have gotten back with stuff that improved the film's pacing or explained things better. There's probably a good 15+ minutes of scenes you could cut out.

The unfortunate side effect being that one tends to lose one's mind.

The movie wouldn't have been as great without a creepy alien creature. This article describes it as an empath that feeds off emotions, good and bad.

It was even originally intended to be used on Jyn too. Not sure how they could justify that story wise if Jyn and Saw still had the same history and Bor Gullet still drove its victims insane.

Are empathic links or "mind melds" usually treated as destructive experiences in canon? I can't personally think of any other examples outside of the mind affecting powers some force users have.

In Trek, as just one sci-fi example, they use alien empaths as plot devices all the time. Sarek, Spock, and Troi all come to mind. All commonly used as living lie detectors. They do not usually destroy the mind of the person they connect to.

Attani mindlink is fine but no longer canon

A good point and game relevant to boot. Seems like this is done through an implant rather than biologically and was used as a sort of life long connection, almost like an even more connected marriage. So maybe more meant to be between two or maybe more consenting adults for longer periods of time than a really practical interrogation method.

Still, if the implant could be removed it might be a more humane option than psychic tentacles that drive people insane. Even if the insanity is always only temporary, like it was for Bodhi.

Every scene with Saw is terrible because Forrest Whittaker did a terrible job. Everything is just sooo overacted.

His character accomplished nothing, contributed nothing, and then died for nothing.

"Hey, Saw, we're gonna get off planet before we explode. Wanna come?"

"Ummm.....nah. I'm good."

"Okaaay...you know you'll die right?"

"Yeah, but... [shrugs]."

/scene

Powerful stuff.
