It's probably done this way because Krennic is too stylish to fly in TIE Bombers

Plunk the condition down on an x7, laff. Vader does seem the optimal recipient though. Or an ACCURACY CORRECTOR PUNISHER YEEEEEEAAAAHHHHHHH no.
1 hour ago, xanderf said:On, snap, I didn't even think about Soontir. Slight improvement on damage output, as well as an extra shield? That's not bad! Heck, he only ever really gets one damage through, anyway , so just don't bother modifying your attack dice - roll whatever, save your tokens for defense, plink a shield. It might just be enough to consider playing him, again!
Man, I really hope the rest of that condition card is blank - basically any kind of downside to this is going to render it much less useful...
You can give Soontir a 3/3/4/2 stat line with HU & SU. Albeit at the expense of ATs, however you can kind of change the way you play Soontir. Now you don't really have to worry about dodging arcs and can play more aggressively. Just joust in, focus/evade/focus and dare them to shoot at you.
Put it onto a Phantom with Gunner and Fire Control System. Don't like your first roll? Cancel a hit to guarantee the miss and strip a shield. Then gain your target lock and lay in a full strength attack.
If I want that I take Ryad. For less points. ;-)
Buzzsaw Whisper is going to be sooooooooo much fun now.

I honestly like it on Rexler Brath either in /x7 or /D form. He's a lot of points with Expertise, and can pretty put all his dice to work all the time. On offense, cancel a blank to do a shield, and the rest applies normally. It's a situational approximation of all hits for no actions spent, leaving actions free for maneuver or defense, or in a few cases, flipping damage face up with Rexler's ability.
In /D form, you could theoretically start with a 2-shield target and still deal 2 damage to the hull with a 2 hit attack.

Is the extra HP enough to keep her alive?

The ACD is enough.

Soontir's dial is a LOOOOOOOT better than Ryad's, nevermind he's got boost and she doesn't. Oh, and PS9 vs PS5 ain't nothing. And for all that, assuming you are running Ryad naked (nothing but x7 and a grin), the point difference is only 37 (for HU+SU PtL Soontir) to 32.
Assuming you do put PtL and Mk II engines on Ryad, she's 36 to his 37. Same rough statline, she's going (Free)Evade+Focus+Something every turn while Soontir is doing Evade+Something+(Free)Focus, yet he's PS9 and she's PS5, and again...that dial, tho...

Against a boatload of 10s and 11s?

You forgot the 5 Points from Krennic. Now it is 36 to 42. And Ryad has the better dial. 14 greens baby. Soontir is incredible easy to block, That dial has just 7 greens and literally nothing else on it, because unlike Ryad Soontir needs his stress. Ryad is free to give hers to Yorr. ;-)

Resign yourself from winning the PS race and go Lonewolf instead of VI?

Meh, Krennic is sitting in RAC's Decimator with a Rebel Captive and Jerjerrod (+Expose +EI?) to buff its own defenses by being an extra body to space - so you can't fully apply his cost to Soontir.
I don't think you can trivialize that PS9 vs PS5 range, though. That makes a LOT of difference...
(As to the dial - all the greens in the world won't help you without any hard turns you can take. Soontir's hard turns are mostly white, with 2 green. Ryad is stuck "going forward", and predictability = death)
Edited by xanderfYeah, Ryad can block that 2-Hard-turn or watch Soontir fly past her. It makes indeed a difference, but not necessary to the Barons advantage.
The extra damage from the condition helps soontir to catch up to Ryads damage output ... that's at least something, because without the target lock the Baron really needs away to increase his lackluster wet towel damage. If you use Jerjerrod you can subtract about literally zero points from Krennic's cost, because that is what courier droid does cost. Though either way, you have wasted perfectly fine 2 points on Jerjerrod. Which could have been Kylo Ren instead for just one point extra, which you just wasted on abomination Soontir
I'm going to go back to Pure Sabacc. He has terrific synergy with both known aspects of the condition. The extra shield means more to him than anyone, Baron included, and he has access to extra dice with no native rerolls. And he's lean on points to begin with.
I wonder if there's points for two different types of aces to maximize the use of Optimized Prototype. Say you've got Fel and Vader. Against some lists, Vader will be the key ship, so you pump him. Against other lists, Fel is king, so you pump him. I wonder if this is the real power of this condition, but it seems hard pressed when stacked up against Palp.
I've always used Sabacc with SU but cringed at not having LWF on there.
Well guess who decided to show up in Wave 14?
Would OP work with unguided rockets? Cancel a dice is not a modification right?
Just now, Arma Quattro said:Would OP work with unguided rockets? Cancel a dice is not a modification right?
It is a mod, but it wouldn't matter. OP's second line only works with the primary weapon. At that point you should save a point and just use SU.

This is the first thing i thought of when I saw it, Vader, Inq, Reaper/Kylo/Krennic. Assuming its 18 pts...it wont be in which case Inqy loses its missile and ya got a 98 or 99 pt bid.
What about OP on a TIE Reaper? Maybe on Vermeil? He seems like he would like Opportunist and TIE Mk II (depending on the dial) and Krennic. Move, jam enemy, receive stress, roll 4 dice, and after attacking, cause 1 shield damage. Seems good enough for 36 points... or is that too much?
Hopefully one of the other unique pilots has a cool attack or defense ability. I'm guessing that one of them will have to do with the jam action.
Which jam is it gonna be? I would like epic jam but I see the jam token so I'm afraid it's the remove token.

but even that guaranteed result isn't really damage, as it is shields only (i.e, you literally can't kill anything with it...contrast with Sabine -crew- again)
So you're saying Sabine (Crew) was poorly designed.
Note that you just cancel "a die result". This means one damage is sure to go through, but you have the ability to do more then just 1 shield of damage. Man, the phantom is looking to be a heck of a good time now that Krennic can do... uh... Krennic things. And Sabacc.
