Crimsonymipede

By dadocollin, in X-Wing Squad Lists

In thinking of a way in the Resistance Bomber thread to get Nym paired with a coordinating shuttle, I came up with this. This way Nym gets TLT, 2 Action bombs (possible coordinate) and two bombs he can launch. Sabine rides on the shuttle. Let me know what you think and if there's any way to improve this (keeping some version of Nym, bomber, and shuttle).

Crimsonymipede (98)

Captain Nym (46)

Trick Shot, Trajectory Simulator, Extra Munitions, TLT, Thermal Dets, Conner Net, Havoc, Genius

Crimson Specialist (32)

Trajectory Simulator, Bomblet Generator, Deflective Plating

AP-5 (20)

Sabine, Chopper, Phantom II, Guidance Chips, Ion Bombs

Haven't checked the original thread. I think the problem with this is that your shuttle needs to be too close to the action to coordinate... With the ships you have here I would probably do this. Lots of control (stress/ion) to put your bombs in place. It doesn't do what you originally wanted, but its an alternative. Otherwise I think your list looks alright, good fun 'pre-move' bombings. Just remember you can only drop one bomb per turn. so when AP-5 dies, that shanenigan is gone, as well as sabine.

Captain Nym (Rebel) (30)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
Extra Munitions (2)
Ion Bombs (2)
Thermal Detonators (3)
Trajectory Simulator (1)
"Genius" (0)
Long-Range Scanners (0)
Havoc (0)

"Crimson Specialist" (27)
Trajectory Simulator (1)
Bomblet Generator (3)
Deflective Plating (1)

Ezra Bridger (Sheathipede) (17)
Snap Shot (2)
Sabine Wren (2)
R3-A2 (2)

I like the changes. I previously had Sabine on her TIE with Cloaking Device as basically a distraction to chase. I've been toying with this idea of having her off Nym's ship to take some of the fire off Nym, but also to allow the bombers to catch ships in bad positions while they're trying to quickly get rid of Sabine.

Nym

Predator

TLT

EM

Havoc

Enhanced Scopes

Prox Mines x 2

R4-E1

Crimson Specialist

Bomblets

Targeting Scrambler

Sensor Cluster

AP-5

Inspiring Recruit

R2 Astro

Pulsed Ray Shield

Nym is the heavy hitter. Rerolls on both TLT shots, PS 0 bomb placement guarantees a successful placement, even after a Red, with R4. Crimson is herself, wide bomb effects, 1 guaranteed evade per turn, and the potential to scramble an opponent. AP has a bit of regen, and can reliably provide actions to the others.

Interesting. R4-E1 may see more play once Deathtroopers are in the field.

A version of Crimsonymipede made the final table at the Seattle Regional (closest to @ModernPenguin 's list with Ezra):

Looks like:

Captain Nym (41)

VI, TLT, Trajectory Simulator, Bomblets, Havoc

Crimson Specialist (36)

Trajectory Simulator, Proton Bombs, Ordinance Silos, Deflective Plating

Ezra Bridger (23)

Snap Shot, R3-A2, Sabine

Personally, I think it'd be wicked interesting to use Minefield Mapper on Crimson Specialist instead of Trajectory Simulator. Facing aces who like to live in the dense asteroid field? Proton Bomb it! Facing a jousting list all clustered together? Proton Bomb 3-straight in front of them! Crimson Specialist already has a way to put bombs in interesting and unexpected places, and while TrajSim is still good, I feel like MM could do some potent area denial.

The very first list I made up when I got the bomber was using Crismson Specialist with Minefield Mapper. I had Cluster Mines and Ordnance silos. That allows placement of one Clusters at the start and having three to drop. (This was before the Ghost/Fenn craziness that makes Proton Bombs very attractive.) I would put one out in the center as a shield and then generally get another out to block one more area before any engagement. Having a built in turret on the bomber makes it easier to kite around dropping roadblocks.

If building that way, part of me says "go Cobalt Leader" for the reduced agility. Having Weapons Guidance on the ship too would help offense absent Accuracy Corrector.

You know I think I actually had it with Crimson Leader. The Rattled condition could potentially be a huge pain on something like a Ghost. Ghost hits a proton and takes two crits and a Sabine for good measure or pops a couple of clusters and gets all that extra goodness. You could keep plunking that condition back on Ghost each time it sheds it, you know, before it TLTs you out of existence!

So I figure with Cluster Mines, I don't necessarily mind eating one or using Nym's ability to stop from eating one. However, with Proton Bombs, I really want Deflective Plating. As such, I can't afford the TLT. In that case, I'd rather also add a missile, but no points for Harpoon. Cruise still nice, tho. Ion-Sabine-R3-A2 looks pretty nifty on Ezra. Bomb-bonuses, and the potential stress-ion combination which is so nasty. Cobalt's Weapons Guidance potshots across a bomb-strewn field seem like they could be reasonable. 81.25% chance of 2 hits isn't too bad when agility is reduced. Crim-Spec has Sensor Cluster to not-die.
