There are 3 of us in our group, 2 have GM’d but now our 3rd wants to GM as well. He has the TFA behinner set and i was wondering if it would be an easy conversion to the GCW era?

Probably. It's centered around scavengers on Jakku, but could really be any planet with a scavenging community.

Just change the setting from Jakku, or that the battle the ship's wreckage came from took place during an early part of the GCW, or perhaps even the Clone Wars. But other than mentions of Resistance and First Order, the adventure can very easily be dropped onto any desert planet, even Tattooine if you're so inclined.

The follow-up adventure can also be similarly tweaked, mostly by changing the source nature of the macguffin retrieved in the Beginner Box adventure.

What if that wrecked ship dates back to the KOTOR era perhaps relating to Revan, the Star Forge and perhaps a prototype of that automated space station?
