Those people are few and far between and you shouldn't care about what they are thinking because they are scrubs. Believe me constant whining of nerd herders on this forum got nothing to do with "real" X-Wing in material world - in my LGS for example we have explosion of new players, all of us play competetively, try meta lists and no one whines about some silly things that local forum nerd-herders whine. Vocal whining minority consists more often than not from armchair experts, they don't find the pleasure in this game, only satisfaction for them comes through constant whining.

Oh I don't worry about it and I'm fully aware people are very rarely judgemental about lists. I have a conspiracy theory that the majority of horror story tournament players you read online are fabrications by people who don't play games competitively.

The "that guy" tournament stereotype is sooo rare that focusing on it on any level beyond when it's actually happening is a waste of time and energy. I always come away from tournaments feeling recharged and enthusiastic about the game and brimming with ideas for new lists to try.

I've always found that when I'm feeling the worst about the state of X-wing usually coincides with the largest amount of time since I've been able to play a larger tournament and I've got nothing but the forums to fill the void.

But I digress. The example I gave was just a hypothetical about the risk of trying too hard to figure out what a list choice tells you about a person. It tells you something, just not as much as it's easy to think. This is why being concerned what people think about it is pointless.

And if someone did have a problem with a list choice I took to Vancouver, then I'd just flip them an acrylic salt token we all got for door swag at the regional :D

It does look like Ghost-Fenn is not as hot anymore, simply because it gets into hard matchups again. though Copenhagen is missing. That double-win should be a solid boost for Ghost/Fenn again, meanwhile a semi-Final for another Palp Aces list.

So, what I take from this is just in the top ten there are: 19 different ships, at least one from each wave except 6 (most wanted) and 13, no TLT's or bombs in the top 3, the majority having an "arc matters" element, and a variety of control, offensive, and defensive strategies. I know people around here hate hearing this, but that's good. Right?

I think I am seeing different results then you guys. Here is what I see in the top 10:

  • 6 Rebel Lists
  • 1 Scum List
  • 3 Empire Lists
  • Turrets on the VCX on the #1 list
  • Bombs, Turrets, and Harpoons on the #2 list

You. Complete. Me.

The demise of the VCX was greatly exaggerated. ;)

Vancouver had a GENERIC QUADJUMPER in the Top 16.

I feel comfortable in saying that everything is chaos and madness right now.

Support quadjumper generics are honestly awesome. its easy to make 20 points of automatic tractor beam shenanagins earn its keeps, particularly as filler
