It could be a boost from TLJ or a "dead cat bounce". If numbers stay high, good for you!

I'm with you on this! The problem arises when a potential player scouts these forums before "buying in". The calls for nerfs, bans and a 2.0 version can shutdown a potential player.

I'm a new X-Wing player, as I only started playing last month. I played Armada a few years ago, but that kinda dried up when I couldn't find anyone to play. Got into X-Wing more or less solely because they had E-Wings, TIE Defenders, and the Gunboat, and I loved those in the EU. After reading the horror stories on here of Nymranda and the like, I was expecting a horrible meta and a bad game environment, but have honestly found that's far from the case. Sure, people talk about these lists, and there's always that one guy that tries to fly whatever the forums say is the big bad scary meta killer, but usually, it's just a lotta guys trying to have fun.

In short: Does X-Wing have problems that FFG needs to address? Sure. Is it all doom and gloom scary with tons of people leaving en masse and no new players picking up the game? Of course not.

I've been playing for years and I've seen a lot of people come and go. There are still a lot of people that I know that have quit and there are still calls of people selling their stuff. There are new players, too. I would say it's treading even right now.

Me and my friends still play because when we do it is, and always has been, making up little SW stories like ‘a group of TIEs are chasing the Falcon’ or ‘Wedge and Biggs are flying a sorrow against Black Squadron’.

It's virtually dead in my area, unfortunately. I've had a single game at home with a mate since about October last. The local store started running casual Legend of the Five Rings on the same day as X-wing would usually be. From launch day, virtually everyone jumped ship and took up that. Not only did it leave the pool of available players at almost nil, it also took up every table in the place for several months.
Even the Q4 kit they ran was dropped due to lack of numbers, and never rescheduled. Relatively fair to say it's dead here, and the last few wave releases have done nothing to excite the players, past or present. The latest announcement especially. For now, if I want a casual store game, or anything competitive, I have to drive 2 hours each way, and that's just not going to happen.

There’s loads of xwing in my area. We had 140 players at regionals a few weeks back, many of them local players.

I fly HotAC at work on lunch break once a week, and I play 100/6 outside of that. Looking to get some practice in before Adepticon System Open, where I’ll be playing every single day xwing is open.

When I get back from that, hoping to pick up more epic.

Life is good, xwing is fun.
