Let's talk about the CopenOpen - 100 point Rey

By Rich P, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I'd like to talk about the Rey list run by Bob Dee a bit ... depths of jank here are immeasurable.

So a fat PWT ... are we back in the glory days of Fat Han?

Rey (45)
Expertise (4)
C-3PO (3)
Finn (5)
Engine Upgrade (4)
Millennium Falcon (1)

Fenn Rau (Sheathipede) (20)
Veteran Instincts (1)
"Chopper" (0)
Flight-Assist Astromech (1)

AP-5 (15)
Courier Droid (0)

Total: 99

It's a strong list built partly to be good against the VCX/Fenn lists running around. With two coordinates, Rey can boost and still have focus and evade. When you combine Finn, C-3PO and her ability, she can quite easily face a Ghost at R1 and come out ahead.

This is far from Fat Han for multiple reasons.

1) The effectiveness of Rey drops if you kill her wing-men.

2) The standards for damage has increased. Fat Han could ignore two damage in a time where that was really powerful. (Remember Accuracy Correctors? B-Wings with AC used to be a thing.) This Rey still has the same mitigation, but the spike damage is higher now. She can be a little more defensive, because...

3) Rey cares about her arc. Fat Han didn't.

It's a strong list. I'm not quite sold on the naked AP-5, but coordinate is really strong. But the shuttles are fragile and takes skill to use correctly. It's good, but the sky isn't falling.

You can add FAA or R2 to AP5 (or IR/IA as crew over courier droid) but lose the bid.

FAA on Fenn also feels like it could be dropped to increase the bid.

I think if things are shooting the shuttles (on average, a ghost will take 2 turns to kill one) that is time that Rey will be sitting with the ghost in arc, killing it.

Regarding damage mitigation ... this Rey can negate up to 4 damage from a single source ... if she has you in arc. It's equal damage mitigation to Fat Han ... but can mitigate spike damage too ... this Rey can easily negate a harpoon entirely with focus, evade and in arc rerolls ... it can - with luck dodge 2.

Looks like a very solid list. It strikes me as being very similar to Ghost/Fenn, in that you've got a damage resistent, hull heavy turreted beast supported by Co-ordinating shuttles. Similar damage output at well (although I'd suggest that the Ghost has a more "even" damage output thanks to it being spread across it's TLT shots).

Where this list seems a bit more flexible is that it has two possible co-ordinate actions at two different PS steps, plus higher PS on the tank.

this is interesting, I really like the double/triple actions efficiency, but really worried for how long those shuttles can stay alive. I would love to see this played on stream.

It was - First Earth on twitch/You tube round of 16 at Copenhagen. It lost, but the game is worth watching, it was a very tense affair.

thanks, I' may watch that on my lunch now :)

I like the Falcon a lot more than the Ghost, and would love to do similar things to the PS11 ghost...but in a Faclon. seems harder to pull off.

I've never liked this list. I could see it with Han, but Rey needs her Sloop and Kanan

She doesn’t need it. A hard one and a boost will get her facing where she needs to be.

The Sloop provides her with so much versatility above that though - 2 options for a stress-free turn around

Do you mean the list, or the Rey build? Have you seen the list elsewhere?

I’m pretty sure Old title Rey is better, and in this list, sloop Rey dies too fast to ghost. She also still gets a stress free K-Turn. If she wants it.

How? And I agree, new title Falcon dies a lot faster than old title Falcon.

AP5 moves to be in range 2 of the falcons end point after it k-turns. Takes a focus.

Falcon K- turns

Fenn moves into range 2 of AP-5, coordinates AP5 to coordinate Falcon. Falcon loses its stress and takes an evade

it requires set up but it’s a great move

I've been toying with using the new Falcon title, but also having Jan Ors on Rey's wingman so she can sloop and still take an evade. Not had a chance to put it on the table yet though.

Who would you wingman with Rey? The points in this list are a bit tight for fitting Jan Ors onto one of the shuttles ... if there was room, the ability for the falcon to double evade would be nice.

Been list building using expertise Lowhhrick as the 2nd ship, so you can get evade + reinforce for 2 guaranteed evades plus your green dice. Looks good on paper, but I won't know until I try a few games with it.

I've seen that build before - it's good, but for me the lack of PS11 reposition offered by Fenn Rau weakens it in the current meta.
