Panic Attack Reborn?

So, I was always a fan of the classic stress-loading Panic Attack squads, where Tactician-carrying B-Wings and an R3-A2 Gold Squadron terrorized aces desperate to arc-dodge a terrifying multiple-stress situation. After a while, the gimmick of stress-loading fell by the wayside, as more and more turrets and action-independent ships flooded the scene.

These days, though, with ordnance and arc dodging back in style, it seems like stress could make a comeback. That said, what would you include in your Panic-inducing roster, if you were to build a squad today?

  • R3-A2 is still the undisputed king of throwing out stress, and since he's only available on Rebel ships, it seems like our faction may already be chosen for us. While he used to be best on a Y-Wing, now other ships vie for his usefulness.
    • Ezra Bridger (Sheathipede) is an easy candidate, since besides loving stress, he can also take Snap Shot and Gunner (or Baze Malbus if you're desperate for points), and has multiple ways to shoot.
    • Nien Nunb is expensive in his T-70, but his easy method for ditching stress can make the droid's cost easy to swallow.
    • Gold Squadron Pilot is still always an option.
  • Tactician is the other main way to throw stress around, something that works great with extended firing arcs.
    • Just about any Auzituck is a solid attacker, thanks to its massive 180-degree arc, and Lowhhrick is an easy suggestion thanks to his defensive capabilities.
    • B-wings are always solid options, though perhaps a bit too slow in the current meta.
  • Flechette weapons can throw stress, but both cannons and missiles are trading damage for effects, and thus not really preferable, unless you can reliably paint the target with your attack.
  • Thermal Detonators , however, can provide a nasty surprise, and help cover your flank... if you're willing to fit a bomber into your squad somewhere.

So I ask you... how would you create a new Panic Attack? One thought of mine, with the entire squad at Pilot Skill 5...

  • (26) Ezra Bridger (Sheath): Snap Shot, Gunner, R3-A2
  • (30) Lowhhrick: Trick Shot, Tactician, Chopper
  • (42) Leebo: Trick Shot, Tactician, Flechette Cannon, Outrider, Smuggling Compartment, Rigged Cargo Chute

Thoughts? Looking at it, I see a glaring lack of offense, which stands to reason... I may be able to stress you, but can I *hurt* you?

As you mention your build lacks a kind of punch to it. I'm 4-3 with this but stoped playing it because I can't really kill much. Just an anoyance to the opponent.

Ezra is Ezra. Hard to kill, REALLY fun, very potent. The Bombers are brutal - always have 1 evade per turn, always have 2 hits on their attack, and that's a lot of bombs.

Chopper would be another really fun option, though.

So friends and I were discussing this last night. a rough concept came up

Bossk- rage, cruise missiles, flechette cannon, tactician, IG88D, Gunner munitions failsafe

IG88B-IG2000

You could fire with the cruise missile using only 1 die ("may add" so don't) if it hits, use rage to re-roll it. goal is to miss. you don't lose your missile, Now that round one has missed, you can tactician if at range 2. Now you can use your flechette's USING IG88D/IG88B combo, shoot someone else whatever range to stress 1, but if you do range 2 you can stress with flechette and then add another with Tactician, and then Finally gunner. once again if it's at range 2 tactician. You could do up to 4 stress spread around up to 3 people with everything lining up right. Absolutely Jank, but when I'm done with this escalation tourney I'm going there for fun. keep your order straight, because if you use gunner first it doesn't work. has to be IG88D/B combo first.

What about more wookiees?

  • Stressbug Ezra (Snap Shot, R3-A2, Gunner) piles on the stress at any range.
  • Lowhhrick (Draw Their Fire, Tactician, Gunner) reinforces for team defense, and snipes for stress.
  • Wullffwarro (Selflessness, Tactician, Gunner) steals heavy damage to up his own attacks, throwing stress around as well.

With some un lucky first shots at Range 2, the Auzitucks can pile on the extra stress before laying into their opponents. Once they have 2-3 tokens piled up, the Auzitucks can take their time with lazy turnarounds and lay in pursuit courses, while Ezra burns in for some cheap Snap Shots.
