G1-M4-C ''Dunelizard'' Fighter

By Wookiee_Slayer, in X-Wing

Dunelizard JTL 2

LORE:

Designed by Mandal Motors, the G1-M4-C Fighter was offered to the Empire, who in turn rejected the fighter. However, the ships were allowed to be sold to third parties, which resulted in high popularity with pirates and the Hutt cartels.

BEHIND THE SCENES:

The Dunelizard Fighter first appeared in the MMO RPG Star Wars Galaxies and debuted in the expansion Jump to Lightspeed

SPECIFICS (taken from Wookieepedia ):

  • Double medium Laser Cannons.
  • Astromech Slot
  • Passenger slots: 1

GAME-ADAPTATION:

  • Attack value of 3
  • Agility value of 3
  • Hull Value of 4
  • Shield Value of 1
  • Focus
  • Target Lock
  • Barrel Roll
  • Salvaged Astromech slot
  • Crew Slot
  • Bulls-eye Firingarc

Reasoning behind the values and slots:

Quote

The Dunelizard added heavier payload and shields, but retained the swiftness and maneuverability that made the Scyk popular with Hutts and other criminal organizations including space pirates such as Erkon the Vile .

(Logic)

The M4-C was made by MandalMotors and sits between the M3-A and the M12-L, therefore the Dunelizard has to be the 'man in the middle'...

Furthermore I think that It should be close to a Kihraxz. However unlike what I initially thought, the M4-C is a light fighter.

Lets give the hutts their starfighters!

Only if it's for the Empire :P

I'd be curious to see how they differentiate from the rest of the scum small based eu ships, especially if it has a statline similar to the one listed.

Well for starters it could get a Bullseye-firing arc. Since its family of the only other ship that has one of those, it could get interessting.

Secondly it could be a lot more maneuverable than te M12-L.

You've given it the exact same chassis as a Khiraxz.

If you want man-in-the-middle, (3/2/4/1 vs. 2/3/2/1) I would suggest 3/3/3/1 (same punch as K, same agility as S, but mid-size hull.)

Would definitely say it qualifies for either the cannon or attack 3, but not both - arguably neither. twin medium lasers is the same as a tie fighter or scyk, after all, and with a bullseye a 2-dice attack can actually be made meaningful.

dunelizard is a better scyk... it needs 3 agility and 2 attack, with maybe 3 hull and a shield and a better dial than the m3A.

its a light fighter, basically fodder, but its agile. 2 agility doesnt fit

Third Scyk title, exactly what we need.

^Well actually it is a 'medium' fighter, which is as far as I can find a heavier version of the M3-A. But if you can find otherwise I will stand corrected...

^I would rather give it a 3 dice + bullseye than a cannon + bullseye.

Also, I was thinking about squad points: the the lowest skill pilot has to be between 12/14 (Scyk) and 22 (Kimogila), because otherwise it would be more beneficial to get either of those. Now I would say 16-19 but that may be very optimistic for what the ship already packs (3/3/4/1 + Salvated Astromech + bullseye + Crew)...

what do you guys think on the points?

I like it.

The stats are basic, nothing fancy or earth shattering. For the ship to be interesting, it either needs to make use of an upgrade or introduce a game mechanic that would fit with its profile. Otherwise, the Kihraxz currently fits that role and the Kimogila has a bit more (initial) staying power.

I would prefer game mechanics that would reward low PS play to offset the PS9 race.

check its stats on wookipedia. its lighter than a kihraxz and fills an almost identical role to an A-wing. it isnt a heavy hitter.

it does have a cannon slot, so you could certainly buff its attack that way, but its role is light escort and interceptor. the Hutts use Scyks for their modular design, z95s and dunelizards for light fighters(mostly planetary defence), Kihraxz and vaksai for medium fighters, and Kimogilas and Skurrgs for heavy fighter/ordinance.

i get that you want the dunelizard to be viable in game, but changing its role isnt neccessary to achieve that. give it some sweet swarm tricks and itll see play

Ah, well as I guess I was wrong :P I will correct the thread.

(later, I dont really have much time atm)

I guess we can wait for wave 15... Or wave 16... *cries*

Wasn't the original rendition able to mount cannon, missile or torpedo upgrades much like the Heavy Scyk does currently? It also was only able to have either a crewmember or an astromech. A title to swap between the two?

forgot the crew/astromech part

I think your title is very cool but I think that it would be both a point trap and slightly odd: you cannot equip both at the same time, BUT you can switch between them at any given time... During a dogfight... In space... :P

I didn't mean that type of swap :) . I meant depending on if the title is in use or not. Crew Member without title, Salvaged Astromech with the title. Also the cost could be 0 like the Y-Wing title.

Like what you like y'all but we don't need anymore Hutt green and puce.

Scyk, Dunelizard, Kimogila and Kryat were all designed and manufactured by Mandal Motors..... The Hutt Cartel was just one of the primary users.

You'll have to be careful with a ship that has scum crew and astromech. The only other ship to have that combo needed to be nerfed to oblivion.

^ I think @gamblertuba , that the first pack should be drab colored, but like the original Scyk, not the M12-L. I think Hiemfire is right and that we should get an aces pack with colorful versions for both the Dunelizard and the Kimogila

Ps. Nobody adressed the points about Squad Point I made earlier, so should I interpret that as "no news is good news"?

You shut your mouth! my squad strut their butts in Hutt green everyday!

Could they not just rename the "Heavy Scyk" to the Dune Lizard?
