Cool bits of ambient background music. Share Yours!

So I don't know about other people, but I like to include music with various bits of my storytelling. Help set the mood for the table, and try and convey the dread, or tension, or whatever feeling is supposed to be conveyed, that sometimes doesn't come across when you are just telling them "there is a dark sense of dread that hangs over the area, as if a great malevolence whispers among the trees, hating your very presence in this place" . Some players just blink at you and go "Ok, my character moves forward."

So, I find music tends to help somewhat, and I found a track that, one I just really enjoy listening to, but it gives a really otherworldly, disconnected, ethereal feeling. Listening to it, I thought it would go very well if you were having a character going on some kind of vision quest. It's kind of creepy, but also kind of tranquil, and also just kind of weird. It feels like something someone in the throws of a Force Vision, wandering through an ancient temple, might hear, if this was a movie.

So, I thought I'd share the link. If you also like to use tracks to spice up your sessions, feel free to leave links to yours as well. If you don't, I'd suggest you check it out, as there is a LOT of cool, ambient music out there on youtube, and they usually run for like, hours. So it's easy to just pull up the clip and let it run in the background without much issue. This one runs about 25 minutes, but I've done random searches for things like "Jungle tribal chants with drums" or "evil chanting with rain sounds" and find DOZENS of hits. So yeah, feel free to browse youtube for some of them, as there is a plethora (Heffey, do you know...what a plethora IS?!) of them out there.

All of the kotor soundtracks are beautiful, I would definitely use them.

I use a lot of tracks from KotOR, particularly the Dantooine theme, the Endar Spire theme, and the Jedi Temple theme. I also use a ton of music from Star Wars Rebels (The look on my players' faces when I described a towering Trandoshan in black and grey armor emerging from a dark hallway, and the Inquisitor's theme from Rebels started playing... Priceless).

For music that isn't from Star Wars, I've done a couple tracks from Shadow of the Colossus (that entire soundtrack is astounding), and a bit of music from Xenosaga (Particularly "The Miracle". Slow buildup, epic Latin chanting, great for setting the mood for a grand moment). I've also found that some of the songs from Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, as well as a couple tracks from Death Note, can fit right in. I'd highly recommend listening to those sound tracks if you're wanting some really emotionally weighted songs (FMAB) or something just plain epic (Death Note).

I love to collect vinyl records, and among that collection I've been working on collecting the scores to many movies and TV series. One of the favorites for my group would be any of the Stranger Things soundtracks. The score from both seasons of that show are absolutely fantastic for Star Wars.
