I think Lando is a worthy character for a film and with Donald Glover in the role he might just have enough star power (and charisma) on his own to merit one.
And L3-37 should be part of it too.

FFS no more prequels do something different and actually expand the universe.

Haven't even seen Solo yet, and I'm already in full agreement with this.
Lando rocks. Star Wars needs it's scoundrels.
Dude, we could see him gambling and charming his way through the universe (and maybe what his maneuver at the battle at Tanaab was all about)!

100% agree.
I'm hoping Rian Johnson's trilogy and the GoT team's trilogy are steps in that direction.
Or, at the very least, if you want to redo something, redo the Prequels into good movies.
Edited by Darth MeanieI too would like some more films that don't give main characters the "safety net" of knowing they survive, due to them being in future films.
Lets open things up a bit. It CAN be during the Galactic Civil War, so long that it takes place far from the core worlds and characters that we already know. If they deal with the unknown regions, or stuff far away like that, all the better.

I normally disregard your posts as they're often just a one liner of negativity, withing nothing that adds value to the conversation ...
.. but in this instance .. I whole heartedly agree with you. I've ranted all over these boards about how prequel movies kill the characters we love by de-authenticating our emotional investment in to the universe. A pointless endeavour when there is so much universe to explore outside of the main characters from the the primary arc.

For all we know that might be expanded on in the film.
But, yes.

I heard someone implying the Kessel Run is apparently now a race (not sure where from, hence may be wrong!), if so this feels like it's going to be Star Wars Does Fast & Furious.
Lando is perfectly suited for Star Wars Does Ocean's Eleven. Whilst he can pilot, his primary skill is as a con artist...

Yea, I've always assumed that the SOLO movie is basically the "Heist Movie" genre meets Star Wars, in the same way that Rogue One was "War Drama" meets Star Wars. Your theory about a Fast & The Furious sort of take is good, too, and SOLO may be closer to a mash-up of Heist movie + Car chase movie.
Either way, I think the Anthology films are going to be a pretty positive addition to Star Wars, as there are some great film archetypes that would be cool to see play out in the Star Wars universe. I was completely unexcited for a SOLO movie when it was first announced, and while I still have my reservations I'm actually really excited for it and think it looks like they've done a pretty good job at least from the trailers. Hopefully it's a fun movie with a lot of heart.
While some people complain that the "origin story" films are boring retreads, I disagree. Even if the characters are retreads (Han, Kenobi, Boba Fett) at least the stories being told with those characters can present perspectives situated within the Star Wars universe we love from new and different angles as they follow a narrative tale other than "plucky Rebellion fights overwhelming bad guys as part of conquest to galactic freedom." That plot line will always likely be somewhere in the background context of the anthology films (as it's the nature of the world of Star Wars), but it's not
the
story being told in these films.
Meanwhile, the New Trilogy feels to me far less exciting. I felt like we got a pointless retread (TFA) and a complete dumpster fire that just kept telling the audience about how futile and pointless the whole mythos of Star Wars is (TLJ)*.

Examples:
everything was for nothing, The Force will actively balance the Light and Dark if one side starts winning, the "physical rules" of the universe are not important enough to keep consistent, the past was stupid and must be killed, etc., ...
So, I'm basically saying in this DISNEY Era of Star Wars content: "
Help me Anthology Films, you're my only hope!"
