Idea for a short Armada campaign

By AyJayATL, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Hey, I tried Corellian Conflict with a friend, but we found the complexity and long term time commitment a bit overwhelming to meet our needs (among other things). We are both casual games without a lot of time to get together, but yet looking for something to tie together more than one battle and encourage the use of multiple ships and commanders. (I wanna get my monies-worth out of this.) Here's an idea I came up with for a four battle campaign. Let me know what you think:

Simplified Armada Campaign proposal:

First portion of the campaign involves playing three different fleets at 600 pts per game/battle (or pick your own points). This is followed by a final fleet battle that determines the ultimate winner. Unique units/people that survived their
prior battle may be included in the final battle and get veteran status* (at no additional cost).

Each of the first three fleets is considered to be fighting a battle in a far off locale. Different Uniques can be used in only one of the first three fleets. The same large capital ship type can only be used in two of the first three fleet builds. There are no restrictions on the number of upgrade cards. Although it is a good idea to plan out what all three fleets will contain, you are only bound to selecting and playing one fleet at a time. The next feet to use can be determined after the previous battle (but obviously must rely on a different (unique) commander). One of each available ship types must be included among the three fleets.

Battles will consist of eight rounds (instead of the standard six). No objective cards. The fleet with the lowest buy decided who goes first on round one, then we rotate.

If you win a game (battle), you get a token for a free all die re-roll which can be used in the next game (only) to either allow you to totally re-roll a final attack die pool or cause your opponent to do so. This applies to the final roll but still allows the same re-rolls they/you had the first time around.

After playing all three fleets (games), a final fleet will be created that determines the ultimate winner. This represents a final rallying of forces in a last ditch effort to end the war and save the galaxy. Fleet point buy total tbd by consensus decision after the first two fleet battles. Previously used "veteran" unique capital ships may refit their upgrade slots.

*Veteran Status: For a squadron, it means you can reroll any amount of dice. For a ship, you can gain a
command token of your choice on demand. (Both are one time bonuses.)
