Did the Chimaera release, I did I imagine it?
Because damned if it didn't sell out almost instantly in my area.

Amazon has them?

It's amazing how often I forget about Amazon.
And I have a Prime membership.
Clearly the dark side has rotted my brain.

How dare you want to support your local gaming store.
It's horrible of me but Amazon has really been my go to anymore. I try to support my store through setting up tournaments and stuff like that, feels like I'm at least paying for my time that way so I'm not just taking advantage of them.
I try to support my local game stores, but when the one of them did not order any, and the other only ordered two (that were sold out with in hours). It is hard to support them when their reply is we can special order it for you.
Just remember that Armada may be huge for us, and it may even be pretty big compared to other minis games (the ones not named X-Wing or Warhammer), but for a game store's sales at the end of the month, we're on the smaller end. Your store is paying rent for that square footage, and it can't devote shelf space to Armada just on speculation. Players buy elsewhere (or online), or customers just come in for Magic cards and comic books.
My store is an excellent supporter of our quite decently large group, but even they only stocked about two each of the Chimaera and Profundity. Our group called the store a few weeks before wave seven hit and we put in pre-orders. If you've got any discretionary money to pay in advance, I always recommend pre-ordering. You can pick it up as soon as the street date arrives, and you're still supporting your store.

Everything you say is true, but it seams to me that they did not expect to even sell the two. And that just boggles my mind, I went in after work and both were gone, so I went to the counter just to make sure, the one guy told me that they had all been sold, the other employee there looked shocked that it had sold. But there are games being played in the store all the time, it may not sell as well as X-wing (I can not speak for this as I do not know anyone who still plays X-Wing) but they have sold out of every wave if they get it in, and right now only have at most one of any ship on the shelf and not even all of them (not counting the current wave) so it looks like it sells well. I do not know how long it takes them to turn it around and how much profit they make off of them.
Still hasn’t been released in my local because they ****** up the order...

Not that we are bitter or anything....
My store was kind enough to take pre-orders the month prior to release, so nobody has been shorted yet.
Both my local stores stock X-Wing and Armada pretty heavily. They just sold out because they do some decent volume of sales, and I was asleep at the wheel.

My store took my preorder and still managed to stuff it up
I pre-ordered at two different stores in town. Both had product on release day, but I discovered one is significantly cheaper than the other. About a ten dollar difference on Profundity after taxes...

Yep, count me under this category.

Are you sure it was the store and not the distributor? Back in Wave V I and the store thought we were good to go and the distributor hashed the whole thing up. For the last two waves the store had to more or less browbeat the distributor or those waves would have been fouled up as well.
I called the nearest store that hosts a championship (5 hours to Fargo, ND) and preordered with them. They had it ready for me to pick up on my way through to a regional (that I didn't get to attend because of sick family) two days after release. They then shipped it to me reasonably because of my change of plans. They informed me after the fact that they knocked a significant percentage off of special orders like that (and they followed through).
They made it very easy to support that F(sorta)LGS - (Paradox Games in Fargo btw). I figured I'd should give credit where due.

That's a stupid response. You order two, they sell in hours, you have at least one other person who wants it, and you don't just order two immediately? Even if one sits on the shelf for a few weeks, it's easily worthwhile. It's also just an ... unfriendly response.
I would try to get a commitment out of your for buying one from them and not skipping to Amazon or anything
My FLGS happily keeps a list of people that have standing orders for anything. I don't even have to tell them; I can count on one copy of each X-Wing and Armada release, and if I want more I just tell them ahead of time. And I get 10% off for pre-ordering.
Finally got my Chimaera.
Seriously though, so many feels. Those ISD refits...so conflicted.
The Mando fighters and their raid hi-jinks, oh how that appeals to me.

I have had similar issues with distributors before with FFG products twice. Especially since other stores got theirs on time.

Would you have preferred if they didn't offer to order it?

When I used to live next to my local store I would buy everything from them. But now I am quite a ways away and well the next couple of towns over is not exactly local anymore.

No, but when they try to make it out that they are doing you a huge favor by ordering it, makes it hard to use that option. Have them order it pay shipping, full price also state and local sales tax. Or order it myself maybe pay shipping (most of the time can get free, but not always), normally do not have to pay full price, and only sometimes have to pay state sales tax, but never have had to pay local when I order it my self, and generality get it faster (I do not know the order policy for one store, but the other only orders when it is larger enough about once or twice a month). They have screwed up preorder/prepay to many times for us to think that trying that again is not self fulfillment of stupid (expecting different results for the same action). I have told them that I am willing to pay more if they have it in stock, but if they have to order it I will normally just get it myself. And maybe this makes me a bad person, but I look at it as there job is to have what I want to spend money on, now yes I know that this is in some ways asking the impossible as you have to walk the line between ordering to many or to few, how long will it take to move them and all that. I understand that they need to make a profit as well, but that is not really my concern.
First world problems.
I just ordered my Chimaera and Profundity yesterday, with my first Liberty tagging along with them!
