Which is the better mini campaign, Bespin Gambit or Twin Suns?,

By MandoBard, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Sigh, I’m considering buying one before the price bump since I’d rather like a mini campaign option as it’d be less intimidating trying to teach/play with people. I’m honestly leaning bespin since I already have the Boba Fett pack, and it seems like it would add more variety, but thought I’d ask for some viewpoints

edit: I meant twin shadows, but I’m on mobile so I can’t fix that part of the title

Oh, I thought we were going to get to talk about the Azzameens ( http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Twin_Suns_Transport_Services) .

Also, since you have Boba Fett you be leaning toward Twin Shadows. I've played TS twice and enjoyed it both times. I haven't played Bespin Gambit, so I can't comment on that.

Actually, it’s because I do have Boba that I’m leaning away from twin shadows. He has a fully playable campaign mission that doesn’t require twin shadows, so he’s perfectly usable. Bespin in the other hand gives me Bossk, and some more scum to mix things up

Depends on what "better" means for you. Bespin has awesome interior tiles. I like the heroes (Murne/ Davith) and other characters better (Lando/Bossk) but not the generics (ugnaughts/wing guards). Twin Shadows is the shortest campaign to date- either a good or bad thing depending on what you want. Id go Bespin personally but you cant go wrong in Imperial Assault!

Well he wouldn't be usable in Bespin, mini campaigns don't have side missions (all side/forced mission agenda cards are removed from the deck) so there's no way to earn him.

That said, I've played each one once. Personally I like Bespin better. Better heroes, better Imperial class, and I found the missions more fun (more difficult for the heroes as well). Twin Shadows does have what I think is one of the most balanced missions in the game in Canyon Run.

Less intimidating due to less commitment, sure.

Keep in mind, though- progression in a minicampaign is faster and ramps up a lot more than progression in a regular campaign. If your players are inexperienced, a full campaign is actually a lot easier, as they can slowly build up their character and make more informed decisions with XP. It's just a big commitment.

I think I liked the outdoors of Twin Shadows more than the interior missions of the Bespin Gambit, even when we lost the Twin Shadows campaign IRL (and I barely won as imperial the extended Twin Shadows PBF), and I have lost all Bespin campaigns as imperial in PBF.

Who the rebel heroes are will have a larger impact in the Bespin Gambit due to the cramped inside spaces.

I thought Bespin Gambit was definitely the better choice. Both for value of figures/deployment groups and also for the campaign story.

I was pretty confused over this choice. I was only ever going to buy one or the other. I went with Twin Shadows because I liked the figures in it more, and I knew I wanted to get Fett, R2 and 3PO eventually anyway. Plus, I had to get Jabba's Realm and thought having lots of stuff centered around the same planet might be fun: I can combine my sandtroopers with Terro, etc.

I liked them both. Bespin is good because it plays around with "hidden" and had a really fun Imperial class deck that makes good use of this. I also think the BG hero's are better. But, I like the TS non-hero figures better. Tuscans and Heavy troopers were better than Ugnaughts and Wing Guards, IMHO. I also like Kayne Samos better than Agent Blaise I think.

Bossk is pretty fun and one of my favorite villains to play in IA. Bossk > Boba Fett. I hope there will be a Boba Fett fix soon, and then (against the RAW) I'll probably use the fixed version for future campaigns (I did this with Vader previously).

Also, if you get TS- I highly suggest to get the Bantha rider at the same time. It's such a cool miniature (especially painted) and it fits so well into that campaign (as an open group).

Likewise, if you get BG, the ISB infiltrators are the best imperial figures in the campaign (only tokens are included in the box) and are pretty fun, especially with the BG imperial class decks.

Finally, I painted a set of troopers black for my BG campaign to use as shadow troopers. For those who are painting and thinking about playing this campaign, they fit so well!

And their side mission integrates into the minicampaign, making it 5 missions long.

Ok, I think I’m going Bespin when the time comes. Seems it’ll add the most out of the two
