(Opinion?) Homebrew Achetype: Veggians!

So, I've got these guys as the primary Plot ex Machina for my campaign. They're basically walking, talking, incredibly smart, yet very timid vegetables who no one generally takes seriously.

Veggian

Brawn 1/ Agility 2 / Intellect 3 / Cunning 3 / Willpower 2 / Presence 1

Brawn: 7 (6+Brawn)
Strain: 14 (12+Willpower)

Starting Skill: The veggian starts with one rank in Intellect skill. They obtain this rank before spending experience and that skill may not increase above rank 2 during creation.

Ability: Creature Report! Creature Report! CREATURE REPORT!!!: Once per session, this character may spend a Story Point as an incidental. If they do, they immediately become aware of 1 target NPC's strengths, flaws, desires and fears.

Starting Experience: 75

The idea behind this archetype is they're incredible gifted intellectually. Between scientific study of anything that gains their fancy and their tendency to have to work on various teams to further their studies, they have extra-ordinary insight into how creatures (both intelligent and animal) behave.

(Octonauts, this is all your fault...)

I dropped their Brawn down to 6 because they're a fragile race and try to avoid combat unless absolutely pressed. As for the Ability, I have no idea if its underpowered, overpowered or fine. My first swing at such. Figured I'd throw this out there before I turned it loose in my universe. Thoughts? Thanks!

I would avoit 1/1/2/2/3/3 stats. It's better to go on 1/2/3/2/2/2.

About the final number to Wounds and Strain, cause it could confuse a player, and I'd go with Wounds 8 + Brawn, and Strain 12 + Willpower.

I'm not sure, but Intellect is a stat, not a skil... or there are a skill called Intellect? '-' or... it's supposed to mean "one rank in ONE Intellect skill"?

And the starting XP should be 100. There's noting strong enough to justify less than 100. If you preffer to go with 1/1/2/2/3/3, go with 90 XP.

I knew nothing about Octonauts 'til I looked it up to decode your post but for some reason only the deep recesses (re-cress-es?) of my mind (or the early hours of the morning) know it seems perfect for RPG amusement of a less serious nature. Ideal for family RPG use too!

And ripe (sorry) for new ideas if they're not already there:

Unisweetcorn (half unicorn, half corn on the cob)

Kaletail Lobster

Crabbage (fairly obvious)

Brocolliphant (also fairly obvious)

Peacupine (porcupine with peapod spines)

Cellyfish (celery jellyfish)

Parmousan (parsnip mouse)

Rhubeel (rhubarb eel)

Caulihorse (cauliflower seahorse)

Chaardvark, Swanicchio, Leekraffe, Great Cressed-Grebe, Bananahead Shark.....

And of course Koala Pear

What have you started?

Yes. One Rank in any One Intellect Skill. Good catch.

I think you're right on Brawn and Willpower. I risk the character being WAYYY too brittle.

Fruitons (I'm working on them.. stand by!) are more interested in Pop Culture and Creative Geniuses. You'd get like: Kim Cantaloupian, Lady Kiwi, Justin Blueberry, the great thespian "William Strawberry the Smoothie", the intergalactic smash pop band Mango 5 with lead singer Adam Lychee.... stuff like that.

Though I do suppose the elder Fruitons would be Lemonidas and Juicious Cesar. Definitely leader-class of the Fruitons for those names. The younger members of the race are pop culturey. They don't care much for "back then".

Dance Break!: The Fruitons' infectious charisma is resisted by very few in the galaxy. Once per session, during a social encounter, this character may use a Story Point. If they do, they may then make a Leadership check (2) as an action. If successful, the Fruiton whips the onlooking crowd into a fervor and they begin to rally behind her. Add one boost die to all party checks until the end of this encounter. Additionally, once during this encounter, this character may downgrade any one despair to a threat.

Okay. Fruitons are cult of personalities and love a good time. They believe political meetings should take place in dance clubs. Weddings (and divorces) should go down like Professional Wrestling Matches. They think LMFAO should be the pope of their religion. Etc.

What about:

Charming : Fruitons may reduce any Charm check difficult in 1. If it would reduce the difficult to 0, they don't need to do the check.

I was going more for inciting a crowd archetype. Not someone who can directly charm one on one, but who can turn an entire club into a hopping party by just hopping on the mic.
