New Star Wars Trilogy Announced (By the Game of Thrones people.)

By Jadotch, in X-Wing Off-Topic

Separate from Rian Johnson's Trilogy, a new Trilogy will be on the table wrote and produced by DB Weiss and David Benioff from Game of Thrones.

I love Game of Thrones, however, once it started going off the books the storyline has become weaker and the characters seem like shells of themselves. So I don't know how much GoT owes to these 2 or more GRR Martin. Even though I have more faith in them than I do Johnson, it still has me iffy.

Ironically I often compare the Original Trilogy to season 1-3 of Game of Thrones and the New Trilogy to seasons 5-7.

So I guess we don't know for sure whether Episodes X, XI, and XII will exist anytime soon. They're probably waiting on that until they see how popular Episode IX is. So we don't know much about anything yet.

But I guess the real good news here is that we can expect new Star Wars movies until at least some time in the 2030's!

I hope to still be breathing by that time!

So do we all!

Really, they're just gonna be making Star Wars movies as long as we can possibly foresee. Even Palpatine himself didn't have a master plan that lasted more than a decade or two. And even by 2030, they're probably going to have made so much money that they'll never want to give up that liscense - that's what happened to LEGO too, when their liscense expired in 2016, they were really hasty to renew that thing!

I think like it or not, Disney and Star Wars are irrevocably bound. I guess the best analogy is that Disney, LEGO, and Star Wars are like Anakin, Palpatine, and Obi Wan...

Note that the Death Star in the analogy is probably when the sun turns into a red giant and swallows the Earth, because Star Wars sure ain't going anywhere anytime soon.
