I personally DO want Ewoks, if only to see how FFG balances them.

Star Wars has always been a ***** mix of samurai flick, Battle for Midway and kitten video. So why not Ewoks.

I don't want to have them spend 4-6 months developing a unit I won't play though. I understand why people want them. It would be fun the first few times, but it gets old fast.

My fear for something like ewoks is that they will introduce some aspect of gameplay that cannot be found elsewhere and that every rebel force will have an ewok contingent to stay competitive... While a themed endor force with a few ewoks is not completely unpalatable, seeing forces composed of fleet troopers, t 47s and ewoks... Just no... It's going to make the game look laughable and does not lend itself to growing the player base... 5 years down the line when we have rogue one, scum faction, rebels units and a new sequel trilogy core set, sure, release ewoks as a joke.

Makes sense, that or the ability to simply pop out onto the board anywhere there is cover, emulating their incredible ambush abilities.

How is the idea of organized ambushing bears not utterly terrifying in its own right?

I personally want to avoid something crazy like Ugnaught spam in IA.

I would say as long as the Ewoks are only in the support or specialist roles, then it’s fine. The spam is minimal.

same for gungans, wookies, or any other niche.

Or all Hobbit armies in the Lord of the rings sbg.

<Sarcasm> Clearly they are modeled after the most ferocious of Australian predators: the drop bear!</sarcasm>

I think its fairly (I think) safe to assume Ewoks will not be released anytime soon. The people that would love them unfortunately to do not outweigh the rather vocal people who would rage over it and make bad press.

Yeah that's a good concern, when peoples armies start to look like some kind of bad fan fiction. I'm not convinced there will ever be a scum faction though...at least not for a couple years.

I don't know... That would mean leaving out some serious fan favorites. Boba Fett could be added to the imperial forces but a crime syndicate makes more sense.
