Goopa FFG. Chiotto Ewoks? Gyeesh Ehshtee Legion Ewoks!!

By Muelmuel, in Star Wars: Legion

Time to start the official Ewoks thread!

Let's go all out for having the teddy bears in Legion!

What stats should they have? Should they also have variants?

I personally want wicket as well

here is the link to the Ewokese I used if y'all are really confused about the title

https://mystwarscollection.weebly.com/how-to-speak-ewokese.html

I want Ewoks as well, but I will not buy them. My imperials want to crush them.

If this is an ewok thread, we need ewok stats!

No dice at all. They just insta win against any endor themed armies

I'll be honest the only Ewoks I want in the game are dead Ewoks as scenery. They count as at least rough terrain, and stackable for cover bonus.

Stats:

Squad of 4: 20 points

Wound Threshold: 1

Courage: 1

Offensive/Defensive Surge: No

White Defense Die

Unarmed: 1 Black Die @ Melee Range

Spears/Stones: 1 Black Die @ Range 1

Movement: 1

Keywords: Nimble & Steady

Upgrades: 2 Extra Ewok Slots @ 5 points a piece; 1 Ewok w/ Slingshot @ 15 points (1 Red Die @ Range 2)

I'd up their courage, and make a base squad of them be 7 units. They're nothing if not courageous fighters, and their power is in swarming. Maybe C-3P0/Chewbacca gives them a bonus! Also, maybe if you have two separate units of Ewoks flanking an enemy unit, there is some bonus to the attack--to simulate guerilla ambush tactics that they are seen using.

I'd also classify them as support, to prevent any all-Ewok cheese. They helped the Rebels, but they couldn't have done it without them!

I like this idea. If FFG made them swarm-y I’d want to see them as a support or special forces option to limit their numbers. The last thing I want to see across the table is 50 Ewoks.

I think it would be interesting if they were incapable of actually harming a serious trooper unit but could sneak around and grab an objective.

Acceptable!

I think the more diverse our options are the better!!! Who cares if you don't like them? Don't buy them and crush'm with the army you love. I love the idea of Ewoks! Give the fuzzballs gliders so they can drop rocks. Maybe make them squishy scouts that can set traps. Better yet, a group of Ewoks musicians as a Support unit to boost moral ?! Yub! Yub!

Why!?! I really hope Legion allows for all Ewok, Wookiee, Droid, Gungan, Clone, etc. type armies. The game isn't made to reenact scenes from the movies. Why not give the option of those type of armies to those who actually like them?

I see where your coming from but I really hate Ewoks.

I can get behind non-canon armies for sure, but Ewoks are literally teddy bears with rocks and spears. Balancing them in game as a standalone force would be kinda ridiculous in my opinion.

EDIT: Yes, I am aware of historical incidents of primitive armies defeating technologically superior forces, but they usually involved huge numbers. To be balanced, the point cost would have to be so low and the required army size so large as to make it very unpleasant to play against, and probably not possible within the unit type cap without making the units unrealistically overpowered for primitive units typical of the Ewoks.

I think they should have white attack dice both melee and ranged, and no defense dice.

They also didn’t appear to be especially brave, other than fighting the Imps with sticks and slings in the first place. Multiple scenes have them fleeing in terror.

They need to be really cheap and in larger units to compensate. Imho they should be a troop option, so people who like that can create a thematic Ewok army. Support could be more elite ewok units like trappers.

You did watch the movie right? The one where the Ewoks inflict heavy losses on a much larger Imperial force.

Considering it's an objective based game and not a kill everything game I'm sure there's ways to give them an advantage/abilities that would make Ewoks a viable army without having them have to match other factions firepower.

I say doubt we are getting factions in this game other than rebel, imperial and maybe scum. Even if they did however I seriously doubt it would be as granular as "ewoks" or "wookies". X wing and Armada have done fantastic without splitting their troop pools into arbitrary faction groupings. Factions don't add to the game. They remove choice.

True, but they were "suppressed" by several AT-STs, which will likely have the same effect on Rebel troops. 1 courage would probably be fine, but I'm just thinking of ways to balance them for inclusion, like many people here seem to be interested in.

The Ewoks fought bravely alongside the Rebels, suffered huge casualties, and managed to win the day with the help of a captured AT-ST. Again, I think it could be done, but even in an asymmetric objective based game you would either need to make Ewok abilities ridiculously overpowered or change the rules for number of units. I just see them slotting in nicely as support, which addresses a lot of these concerns and lets you still field an Ewok-heavy army. Just my opinion and I know many disagree.

Oh I'm 95% sure we will only have Rebels, Imps and S&V. Especially when the lead designer has already said Xwing and Armada are a good model of how they would release expansions.

Honestly, I'm good with that. My inner child can dream though...

I have stats.

Base squad 7 figures.

Additional trooper upgrade slot.

Specialist upgrade slot.

White die, melee and ranged.

No defence die.

Wound threshold and courage: 1

Movement: 2

X-wing has started including ships that care about the sub-faction though, such as the Resistance bomber. Armada has been including cards that check the specific type of ships, encouraging specific more restrictive builds.

I don't see factions as restricting choice, I see them as increasing options, and preventing a homogenizing of the competitive army lists (depending on your definition of "Faction").

To me, the Rebels, Empire, S&V, Republic Clone Army, and Droid army would be different factions, with plenty of options for different army builds for each one. I do agree that rather than having separate Pirate, Mandalorian, Jawa, Tusken Raiders, and Criminal factions, they should be sub-themes of the S&V faction, and if say Ewoks were to be added they would make more sense/more easily balanced as a sub-theme of Rebels.

I don't want ******* ewoks
