Everyones preorder thread

By oddeye, in Star Wars: Legion

To kill time since we have like 6 weeks to release, i thought I'd ask everyone on what they are planning on preordering. We now know just about everything that we will see in the initial release. Please feel free to leave your reasoning if any as well.

My planned preorder:

1x core

1x stormtrooper pack

1x speederbike pack

1x at-st

2x veers

2x snowtrooper packs

1x leia

2x fleet troopers

1x t-47 speeder

Edit: 1x dice pack (thanks guys!)

Notes: Im planning on primarily playing imperials. Not a huge fan of the at-rt, one is good enough from the core for me. I'm holding back a tad on pre ordering too many of the same troopers as we all know more will come out with future releases, not to mention the off chance of alternate sculpts (fingers crossed). The second veers is for my at-st, modelling him in the top hatch (might magnetize him as well)..

Anyways, please share your preorders! I know im going in fairly heavy here, should keep me busy for a good amount of time.

So far I just preordered the core set. I plan to pick up all the other Rebel expansions and maybe a couple of extra dice sets, but I'll spread those out. I've noticed when I've had tons of models to paint all at once I tend to get kind of lazy on the paint job. Lol. Spreading it out helps me not get tired of painting the same sculpt over and over. The other added bonus is spreading out the cost and after playing a bit I'll have a better idea of what is worth buying more of. I hate the idea of having tons of models that never get used.

I am also going to be providing both sides occasionally, so my preorder is as follows:

2x core

1x AT-ST

1x T47- Airspeeder

If I find myself in need of grappling hooks/impact grenades, I will probably be able to get them fairly cheap off of eBay.

Core is on Pre-Order from a FGS that is cheap and hosts games as well (just not local). I will buy further expansions from where ever I end up playing.

There's a good chance if Legion gains ground I will just buy everything all at once out of what is available, then see what side I end up playing most and start leaning towards that faction.

Core, dice (Thanks FFG!) and T47. Once they're painted I'll sneak more packs into the house.

I have preordered 1 of everything in the Frist release except the extra range rulers.

Core set and a dice pack for me. Got to get better at painting and build it up gradually. I plan on buying mostly imperial going forward, but may smuggle in a rebel unit now and then so I can build a standard rebel army for players not committing to buying.

Funny thing is with this game, the question was always 2 cores or Core + dice. Now the answer might 2 cores + Dice!

Whoa.. i forgot extra dice. Super glad a few of you guys mentioned it! Extra dice is a must have quality of life upgrade in my opinion.

Preordered already

1x Core

Planning to get once there is a sale

1x Stormtrooper pack

1x Speederbike pack

2x AT - ST pack

2x Maj. Gen. Veers

2x Snowtrooper packs

1x Leia

2x Fleet troopers

1x T - 47 speeder

2 Core Sets and a T-47 for me. Plan on playing Rebels so that gives me access to 800 pts. Also gives me 800 pts of Imperials I can use to demo games with.

The value per model for the Core Set is just too good to pass up getting a second one in place of individual expansions.

I went into my FLGS to preorder last week. (Before the release date announcement) He said the distributor had already locked the order and therefore I couldn't preorder. He said that is a good sign and indicates it should be there within a month.

Ultimately that is why I am the most frustrated with the release date announcement. The owner of my game store wasn't convinced it was going to do well when he first saw one of the game play videos so he only ordered 3 cores. With his order being locked there is no incentive for me to try and get excitement in the community for the game as there won't be enough supply come release day if a half dozen or so people want to play.

I know, it works out so over $100 worth of savings I believe. Probably even after buying copies of the cards from the expansions if that is even necessary.

It is really good value if you want both sides. Ill assess more about what I need when we have some Info on OP.

Although one store I play at from time to time are doing an amazing pre order deal on 'everything from one faction'

I see the value in another core, but I’m not sure I’m going all in on both factions and the individual units get me a gradual expansion over all at once. I’m currently planning on core set only battles for demos with folks not playing the game, and leveraging my friends units when we meet up for games (i loan my Rebels and borrow his stormies, for example). When I play rebel, I just need to borrow his t47 and some core units (we are largely staying thematic and not having mirror match)

My current purchase plan is:

1 stormtrooper expansion

1 ATST

Veers

2x Snowtrooper

1x speeder bike (and I’m not yet convinced I need the second support yet)

i want to sort of wait and see what else comes out before overcommitting to the same units

Ya im slightly leary about buying too many of the same expansion packs, holding out hope for alternate sculpt packs. Its nice have the 7 different trooper poses, but if youhave 4-5 storm trooper squads alt sculpts would be nice, not to mention the kit bashing possibilities it would bring.

Im surprised ffg hasn't put out an extra base pack. I'm uncertain if the expansion packs come with extra bases, hopefully there is at least one extra base per pack. Its pretty rare when i mess up a base beyond repair but it has happened to me in the past. Im also slightly surprised that the firing arcs and notches are present on some of the bases. On one hand it is neat and streamlines game play mechanics, on the other hand it really limits some potential basing possibilities. For example, i really can't use cork (cork board basing is just an amazing technique).. it would cover up the firing arcs.. cant use too much snow either. I probably should put that in its own topic as basing is a whole new thread topic. Still.. im surprised we havnt seen a base pack.. If there is a standard ffg "base pack" that supplies the same bases in legion, im unaware of it.

Fair, but it is also cheaper than 2 extra Corps ($50), 1 Support ($25), dice pack($15), and measuring tools ($15 total of $105, savings of $15). If you can find someone who only purchased one core, you could sell them some quantity of the units you don't want from the other side at a discount, and come out even more ahead.

2 Cores and 1 AT-ST for me.

2 Cores and 1 Air Speeder for my brother.

We plan on picking them up on release day from FFGC. Putting them together in store and playing a few games to decide what the next purchase will be.

I was originally doing one of everything, but after actually looking at it, it’s a bad plan.

It costs less and gets you more to buy 2 core and one at-st/one airspeeder.

Only thing you miss out on is expansion specific cards. Hopefully not a big issue.

Many (if not all) of the expansion specific cards can be found in the ATST/T47/Fleet Troopers/Snowtroopers expansions which you’d have to buy outside of the Core Set anyways!

Why 2x veers?

Only card so far that MIGHT be unique to the first batch of expansions for a bit is the thus far unknown comms card in the Speederbike.

Yeah if wave 2 is going to only be a month or 2 after core release I think I'll be looking at 2 cores + heavies

2 core, 1 AT-ST, 1 T-47

Single core for me. I will play it to death then pick up some individual trooper packs later.
