Nym & Sol V Nym & Miranda

Hi all,

I've tried to create a competitive Nym and Sol list which can be seen below. This is obviously straight up worse than Nym Miranda, but I feel the list may have legs, and would welcome any tweaks you may have. I'm keen explore builds that make use of Dengar crew, expertise, VI and LRS, so if you have any thoughts fire away!

I think VI is better for Nym as he will still be able to get his TLs most of the time, unless you are really seeing a lot of PS 11 around.

Trajectory Sim is cool but I'd be inclined to set one of them up with Minefield Mapper and Cluster/Prox mines to really control the battlefield. It's fun for Nym to be able to go head on into a lane that's Clustered up, ignore the mines, get evades if shot at through them, and make enemies have to choose to go through them or around. But I like what you have going, it could be strong.

Cad Bane + Proximity mines is nasty nasty nasty.

A friend of mine was flying a Nym/Sol list the other weekend. Let me see if I can remember it. Both were 50 points, so if it doesn't work out, I got my upgrades wrong.

Nym (Trick Shot, Ion Cannon Turret, Havoc, R4-E1, Minefield Mapper (!) , Cluster Mines * 2, Harpoon Missile, Extra Munitions, Long Range Scanners)

Sol (VI, Twin Laser Turret, Extra Munitions, Harpoon Missile, Cluster Mines, Bomblet Generator, Cad Bane, Long Range Scanners)

Anyhow, he's able to use Minefield Mapper to place two sets of Cluster tokens to start choking lanes (and setting up extra evades from Nym's ability), and build on this with more mine placements later (with R4-E1 Nym's able to toss bombs on a Tallon Roll or other red move; and Sol has that 1-hard placement). With as many cluster mines as there are, Ion poses a serious threat to walk someone over a bunch of them.

I don't know if it's better than Nym/Miranda, but it certainly does something quite different.

VI is a strong choice, but I am seeing alot of PS11 around. Also, Deadeye on both Nym and Sol gives me the flexibility in who I target and makes me immune to things like the Black One Title or Countermeasures. Guidance chips also has great synergy with triggering harpoons.

I'm currently working on a mapper list, will get it across ASAP!

Cad Bane + Proximity mines is nasty nasty nasty.

Cab Bane is indeed good with proxy mines and bomblet generator.

What's your experience with R4E1?

So I played the above list last night and was quite happy with how the list performed.

Findings:

Trajectory Simulator on Scum Nym is nice as you can flying headlong into your bombs without fear.

The 1 hard bomb drop on Sol is nice.

I do think clusters may be better on sol than proxy mines though. With proxy mines you have the ability to re roll 3 dice max and do three damage, with clusters the minimum you have to work with is re rolling 2 dice from one token and doing two damage (assuming the enemy only overlaps one cluster set). If they overlap more you have the potential to do 2-4 more damage so the damage ceiling is much higher.

Double deadeye GC harpoons are strong.

Ion bombs are super nice for control, so Im going to switch out the proton bombs for thermal ets and replace proximity mines on sol with cluster mines.

Both of them have Predator rerolls on both TLT shots, a very respectable weapons output. Bomblets on Nym are more a utility area denial thing. He is also carrying Harpoons just to mess with your opponent, especially formation flyers. Sol can drop his bombs at PS 0, allowing him GUARANTEE successful placement every time, even after a red, thanks to R4-E1.

It wasn't my list, and I didn't fly against it personally--just watching my friends play. However, it's kinda nifty with action bombs. Being able to drop a set of Cluster Mines after a Tallon Roll is pretty nifty; either an opponent gets bombed immediately, or else Nym will add Evade results due to the mines being in the way of the attack. Nym often likes to be in the position of flying away from an opponent with bomb tokens between them. R4-E1 helps accomplish this. I mean, it seems like a stronger than having bombs behind you when flying towards an enemy.

I'm interested in predator on both to push TLT damage through. I feel that would lend itself well to a minefield mapper based list that just kites rounding the board chipping away at the enemy. What do you think?

I could see minefield mapper being potent there, but I would rather have the Enhanced Scopes to guarantee drops when and where I need them.

A little different to what many have posted. Never actually flown anything that dropped bombs before, but it looks quite fun!

I'd still use GC on both.

I also just like Scopes more than mapper, but that's me lol
