Apologies if this has been answered already, if I am splitting a core box with another player is there any point to buying the basic storm/rebel troopers expansions? I will have enough figures but will they come with unique cards I will miss out on and therefore make them worth purchasing?
Trooper expansion packs
yes, there are different cards in the expansions.
Also, if you are choosing to play a tournament accurate list, the trooper unit requirement is minimum 3. 2 in the core box and 1 expansion gets you there. If you are not jumping into tournament play, its only a differance of two new cards.
You’ll want the trooper expansion(s) anyway so you have the numbers needed for an army. There’s the handful of different cards but if you’re a filthy casual like me that’s not a huge deal.

Of note, the "Unique" cards in the Rebel Trooper and Stormtrooper expansions (Grappling hook and Impact grenades I think?) are in both expansions, and are slated as being in the Snowtrooper and Fleet trooper expansions as well.
The main reason to pick up a box of Stormtrooper/Rebels as mentioned earlier is that the official army list requirements are a minimum of 1 commander and 3 corps units, which the Core box only has 1 commander and 2 corps units for each side.
Edited by Caimheul1313I would wait and see what the fleet trooper and snowtrooper boxes bring. No point going overboard with troops straight away

They have the Grappling hook and Impact grenades, same as the other corps boxes. All of the cards are visible on the announcement. The flipped down card is the extra trooper card in all cases.

^this.
While we're at it the atrt only adds comms jammers and the z4 speeders add comm jammers and 1 other as yet unannounced card. Imo jammers are awfully risky and situational as it means you're sitting withing melee range of commanders unless you can guarantee activation initiative to move away.
Edit: Also you can pick up jammers if you still want them in the atst and t47
