Token removal, boosts, stress, and hopefully two rounds of Cluster Bombs to deal with overzealous enemies. I feel like setting them up to be cheap, disruptive, and capable of going full send into the enemy fleet is the best way to setup an huge ship if you plan on investing more into your fighters than your huge ship. Although, the Gozanti listed isn’t exactly the cheapest setup, it hopefully has enough resiliency to stick around two or three turns of firing for the Ion/Ds and Aces to pick off their fighters.

I’m excited to try this out soon!

Question:

Why would anyone fly near it? The corvettes will eviscerate it from range 2-5 and not care about clusters. Fighters can avoid it fairly easy and throw shots at it from 2-3. And maybe just shoot something else if it does get range 1.

It would be hilarious to pull off but I think it banks on your opponent being incompetent.

I have used cluster bombs to go effect before, but that was in the days before really good missiles and torps. . .

OTOH, if the OP is trying to charge enemy ships, he will make them be at R1. Then they have to decide whether or not to fire. Plus, don't charge the corvette??

That sounds good in a vacuum but even with RAC there is no guarantee or even likelihood that he will get r1 of anything that doesn't let him.

As for not charging corvettes, that ignores the corvettes own movement and ranged weapons.

It's only offense is dependent on the enemy letting you get r1 then choosing to let you trigger bombs, that's a mighty neighborly enemy.

He has 4 TIE defenders with Ion Cannons. The way I see it, he's giving his opponent a choice: focus all fire on that Gozanti and take bomb damage, or ignore it and let his ships get run over. I think it may be worth a try, but @Dabirdisdaword is spot on: there are a lot of ways the opponent can play around it, like sending the fighters around the back of the Gozanti while the Corvette blasts away at range.

Man, sounds like a fun list. I agree with Parakitor though, it might have some holes in it.

Could have a hard time with a X-wing swarm or alpha strike A-wings. Of course, nothing is immune to GR75 battling ram.

I bet those Defenders can cause a lot of havoc.
