It's written Teaser but it's Trailer
This trailer gave me a lot more good vibes than I expected. There are already a lot of cool details to enjoy on repeat viewings.
I especially dig the transitional designs- it feels OT, but suitably "downgraded". Makes for a very different, but undeniably Star Wars looks. And speaking of looks- seems the movie will deliver on that front in Spades!
Looks like the Kessel Run to me.

That being said, this movie has had a lot of problems being made. I do have faith in Ron Howard, but I'm not expecting a masterpiece.
I'm don't think Disney has yet realized just how much "fan forgiveness capital" they can get just by re-canonizing some things from the EU in these movies.
Seriously, how much of a forgiveness buffer do you think they could get by including Sontier Fel, in just an Academy portion of the film?
R1 came close to it with some of the cameo appearances for Rebels and ANH, but at least provides the perfect way to do it. Wink wink, yep, one or two of your favorite EU characters are out there. Bask in that feeling, and ignore a few of the warts that are always going to be there, wink wink.
I'm not sure why this is so hard to figure out.
I really try to avoid the tyranny of expectation when watching movies like this, as someone who saw the originals in the theatre I'm just grateful they are making more.
I did get a real Han Solo feel from some of the lines
Well, everyone thinking that was a "trainer" TIE is wrong.
It has a turret.
I'm really hoping Donald Glover releases a Childish Gambino X Lando Calrissian crossover album. All Star Wars themed songs.
Ooh, better a yet, a Lando spinoff movie. It'll be Star Wars' Black Panther.

No that was several parsecs ago.
'I have a bad feeling about this.'
Im not sure how you feel, but so far I was always open minded about new SW movies. But this one rather seems to ruin Han than provide us with a backstory. Maybe because I read the Han Solo trilogy by A.C. Crispin... Dont get me wrong, Im happy that we get a SW movie, Ill watch it, Im just affraid its gonna be a half-baked holywood product focusing mainly on revenue rather than the product and fans. Also, probably one movie wont provide us with much backgroud details, just focusing on the main things like how did he got the Falcon, how he met Chewie and Lando, but all the subtle details what makes Han the Solo we love will be lost...
Just watched the full trailer.
Awesome.
Definitely not trainer TIEs ![]()
I hate TFA with a passion. TLJ is even worse in my eyes. R1 has some nice parts, but I am far from considering it a must-be-seen. This one...I am really eager to watch!

You are deluded good sir!
Rogue one is up there with Empire!

You are an odd duck.
Rogue One is high...HIGH on the list of SW films.
TLJ was good, TFA was...acceptable.

And I will do this thread the courtesy not to start a discussion about those films and thereby to derail it ![]()
Hold my beer @Darth Veggie...
TFA was ok with the saving grace that it laid the ground work for the next films to build upon. Mainly disappointed with “lets just make everything bigger/better”. IE Star Killer Base and Rey being a Mary Sue (perfect at everything with no negative traits).
TLJ... Did Rian Johnson even bother to watch TFA? Absolutely no continuity between the films except for the “Lets continue to make everything bigger/better”. IE Star Destroyers are bigger, and Rey is somehow even MORE of a Mary Sue than in TFA. Finn and Rose story arc was a complete waste of 30 minute of screen time. Finn literally failed at everything his character tried to do. At that point just cut him out of the movie.
Although my 2 biggest complaints against TLJ
1. Snoke took over the galaxy in the screen crawl. Took good ole uncle palp 3 movies and subtly subverting the galactic Government to conquer the galaxy. Rian Johnson ain’t got time for that. Just throw a sentence in the screen crawl so we can have a super boring chase scene that makes no sense.
2. There are no bad guys left. Snoke is dead. Hux is now the equivalent of Wily Coyote, a complete joke. Kylo is most likely another redemption story. Phasma is dead but oh well she sucked anyways. So now we are entering the final chapter of the saga and there is no antagonist left to fight. Perfect. Lets just pull an RR Martin and introduce more characters in the 11th hour of the story. (Before you nerd rage on me... GoT books... show sucks now too though... just for different reasons)
3. Where the **** are the knights of REN? I know I said only 2 major things bothered me but this one just hit me while typing.
JJ Abrams is definitely going to be retconing a bunch of the stupid ***** Rian Johnson did.
Final word... Rian Johnson is a talented director, TLJ was beautiful, just keep him away from the script. TLJ was terrible and if you thought it was a good movie then Disney should just bring in Michael Bay to do IX. Because you got the Transformers of the Star Wars universe in TLJ.
Back into the topic of the Solo trailer....
All looks fine for the most part. But... it just seems like a guy who is saying lines. I’m not getting a Harrison Ford vibe, either in lines, tone/inflection, body language etc
Hopefully we will see that in the film but I didn’t get much here.

I think something in the movie will happen just completely change the attitudes of Han Solo and who he is as a person and transform him into the stuck-up, half-witted, scruffy looking nerf herder we all know and love

No, Rian Johnson didn't watch TFA, he was writing the script during the shoot and only saw parts of the pre-final cut of the film. He did make it so that Luke was cut off from the force as JJ had planned to have Luke meditating when we see him in TFA but since RJ wanted him cut off they cut that bit. Supposedly he finished the script just as TFA hit theaters and just changed a couple a handful of things but other than that nope!
What makes the Snoke taking over the galaxy worse is that this is LITERAL days after TFA meaning that somehow the FO lost their Super Death Star and were able to conquer the galaxy in no time flat. And RJ has mentioned why the Knights of Ren weren't there, that being that if they were he would have killed them off since he didn't know what to do with them. So instead of killing them off he left them out of the film.
I'm not a fan of TLJ at all, but JJ set up this era and I really don't like how the films have reset to OT circumstances twice. In TFA we have a psuedo-empire taking on a small band of rebel/resistance fighters. At the end of TLJ we have the FO coming into being the Empire and crushing the resistance into an even smaller group of rebels. Not to mention all of the OT characters mostly being thrown to the wayside so as to not take the attention from the OT characters. I sort of wish they had gone for a cold war sort of deal for the setting more with the New Republic, Imperial Remnant, and First Order all there with the tension that could have brought, that and maybe keeping the OT cast in background roles aside from 3PO and R2 but not have it so that they are failures, Han (financially, and as a father), Luke (as a hero/jedi, in a self imposed exile), and Leia (politcally based off the books).

Ahem, yes. I sort of feel the teaser for the teaser was better, it got me more excited than the actual trailer did. Part of that might be the new Han actor, but the film will be here before we know it, so hopefully it will be good.
Guys knock it off with the Last Jedi arguments, there's a thread for that, you want to discuss or debate go do it there.
I'm glad you guys have so much faith in Opie/Richie to put out a good Star Wars movie. Me...not so much...
Meh. Sorry ladies and gents, but I have a serious lack of faith. This may be the Firs Star Wars movie since 83 that I don’t see in theaters.
it definitely won’t be an opening night or weekend watch. I’ll wait a few weeks and see wait everyone is saying.
I'll definitely be going to see it opening night (as I did with TFA and R1 - waited too long to get tickets for TLJ because reasons).
But like other people, I'm just not buying that guy for Han Solo.
Donnie Glover as Lando - I was totally psyched when I heard that news.
Now, I think there are plenty of people who have the acting chops to pull off Han Solo. I also think there are a few actors out there who would have looked the part. Even looking at the group of guys who made the short list, I see a few in there whom I think could look the part, and I've seen them be fairly good actors. (This guy must have chosen his own Wikipedia picture to look the part.) Pablo Schrieber is a little old, but I think make-up could have covered that up, and I think he's got the acting chops to make it work.
I just don't know what Lord & Miller were thinking/drinking/smoking/snorting when they chose Ehrenreich. What is he, related to one of their girlfriends who was so XXXXXXXDELETEDFORYOUNGEYESXXXXXXXXXXXXX that she XXXXXXXDELETEDFORYOUNGEYESXXXXXXXXXXXXX??
By the time Ron Howard (and lay off Richie Cunningham - I grew up on Happy Days!) got the project tossed in his lap, he was probably stuck with too much already decided that he's doing the best he can.
I know what young Han Solo looks like......and that aint it. How on earth do the expect us to really buy any one else as Han Solo(also lando)?
I dont know i seceretly want them to leave things like this alone. Not that i dont want a goid movie, just not this. The have so much time btw tlj and tfa why not do some sories in there, plus we actually WANT to know what happened.
