TIE Defender wants a word.

That wasn't their idea, though.

Fair.

TIE Reaper, too.

But it is symmetrical. From a certain point of view...

GIVE THIS MAN A COOKIE!

What slightly irritates me at the moment is that I can't discern any steel struts in the cockpit window- or rather, not the classic design anyway. It kind of looks like a big one-piece glass to me.

Maybe it's the speed with which the thing does it's fly-by, but still, I can easily see the cockpit framing of the normal TiEs. Is it just me or is this front view window actually different?

Since we are getting all the epic stuff into standard, how about the new TIE gets a range 2 - 4 cannon and a 3 - 5 cannon?

Then, as a marketing ploy, do NOT provide a range 4 - 5 ruler, add a acrylic one into a kit two years later when the TIE is obsolete and no one it no more.

That would then open the door to a title or modification card that allows you to convert two crew to a single team.

I actually had a similar thought for the TIE Bizzaro which I think would be quite interesting:

  • Give it an energy score a la epic ships rather than a primary weapon
  • Give it a zero-cost title which lets it generate energy by performing manoeuvres (2 on green, 1 on white, 0 on red?)
  • Give it a hardpoint upgrade slot
  • Include a range 2-3 'light turbolaser' hardpoint in the pack that's relatively similar to a hardpoint-mounted heavy laser cannon (so no extended range ruler needed), and maybe Quad Laser Battery.
  • If you happen to have an epic ship, you can fit it with single turbolasers, or ion cannon batteries, because if you have either upgrade card you must also have a range 5 ruler (assuming you've not just bought the card separately).

Might be quite an interesting little gunship.

Magnus, you miss a glorious business opportunity on INCLUDING a range ruler, just to sell the TIE Heavy in a bigger box!

The thing is, a long range ruler would need a huge box - longer even than a large ship - so there's no practical way of adding it to a small ship or even an ace pack without it looking ridiculous.

Besides which; this way is better because if Single Turbolaser armed Bizzaros were a viable choice, you'd have to go and buy a Raider or CR-90 to equip them.... making someone buy an epic ship as well for every two Bizzaros they want to field is better than making the bizzaro itself a few dollars more.

Agreed. When you look at the military, non-sith, "you can have things in black, white, or grey" imperials, flowery and sinister names seem more out of place.

Well, I'd rather have "TIE Aggressor" to say than "TIE/ag."

And this doesn't have a TIE/?? designation yet, does it?

Ah, phooey, there are bunch of ways to make this possible:

A. Anyone who has a Epic ship has one.

B. Make it part of that year's tournament giveaways.

C. Players who don't do A or B could still source one from a 3rd party.

Essentially, I'd say don't ruin a good product idea over packaging.

Hope we get more experimental/specialty ships in the movie....even if they don't make it in the game.

I like the paint job on the solar panels... I painted one of my First Order TIEs like that.

I think this Heavy TIE would just be a slightly beefed up TIE either 3 RED dice (with a double tap?) or even a Cannon slot, add 2 Shields, 1 more Hull and a maybe bit faster.

"Defender Jr."

That's pretty much a TIE/sf you're describing, except the SF has to take LWF to make it to AGI3. So this thing's lowest PS pilot would have to cost 26-27 points for it to have a niche at all, and do something unique.
